Jorge Ben recorded, I think in 1972, a song called "Taj Mahal," in which he essentially sung the words "Taj Mahal" over and over together with a catchy little wordless tune that he sung for the chorus. When the UK synth-pop band Erasure released an EP of ABBA covers called ABBA-esque, the ABBA tribute band Björn Again responded with an EP of Erasure covers called Erasure-ish. Four years earlier, when R.E.M. released the album Green, the Chicago power-pop band Green came out with a 7" called R.E.M.. R.E.M. were reportedly amused, but not their record company, which saw it as a naked attempt to poach customers.
