How would you feel if someone sent you a card, and it said that instead of picking out a present for you the gave money to some cause or another? Would it matter which cause it was? Would it matter how much money it was?

Most of all, would you feel jipped of a present?

I am most curious to see what everyone says/

ummm... maybe I am a shit for feeling this way, but I would probably feel a bit ripped off. but then I would probably feel so badly about wanting something as opposed to the donation, that I would just let it go.

I'd be pissed since the person knows damn well that I wouldn't donate money to any cause.

It would be like them buying themselves a gift and saying they were going to give me money, but I would have spent that on them anyway.

Yeah, that's pretty shitty, especially if it's a cause that you think is important and they don't think is important. Even if it was money towards an organization the "recipient" would support, then I'd still be kind of confused about how it's a considered a present.

I'd probably feel a little ripped off. Why don't I get to choose the charity? And why don't I get to choose whether or not to donate it? Just give me the check and let me decide what to do with it :P
