All I've heard from people is that Hitman Reborn is absolutely amazing. Apparently it's got a great story and battle scenes.

I am now on chapter 60. Nothing has happened. Essentially just a bunch of character introductions. And they're fun and charming, but I was kinda hoping we'd have dived into a more deep story by now. How much longer do I have

Reborn! started off as a gag manga, so it was all really just character development until chapter 60. Its ratings started to go down, so it had to change to a battle manga- so suddenly shit started to go down around chapter 61 or 63, I forget.

I really enjoyed it until the most recent arc, which has been a bit "WTF?" for my tastes- but it might just be because I'm having to wait every week for a new chapter so I'm kind of losing my flow. The Varia arc is fucking awesome, so enjoy! :D

Haha, you didn't get that from Bakuman did you? It was when they said that Hitman turns more battle manga orientated that it started getting good that convinced me to give it another shot.

Hahaha, it's pretty obvious that's what happened though. When I was marathoning KHR I started losing the will to continue when I was nearing ch60. And usually if a series is wanting to do some character development before they turn serious they don't spend sixty chapters doing it. Reborn! has never really properly returned to its gag roots so I feel like the change was too immediate to have been one that was planned from the beginning. They did well in saving it though, it's been a pretty enjoyable series.

I wouldn't call it advertising per se... they're not going to make much more money as it's all within the same magazine, so if you're reading Bakuman in the first place you could easily flip a few pages over and read Reborn. It's not enough of a reference either to really be like "GO READ THIS MANGA NOW" XD I dunno.

Pretty much what Erin said apart from I thin she meant to say that everything after the Varia arc is 100% pure, premium shite.

Oh god, Shamal is amazing. He gets more panel-time in the Varia arc - look forward to that!

Also, you will learn to love the Daily Life stuff when it goes bad. Srsly.
