Could be worse. I could be stuck in the Midwest, dealing with crazy family and horrible food and snow *misses M*
Okay, Chibi!Leverage is MADE OF ADORABLE. Parker! and fire!
I think I might end up tossing the first few eps of the show into the DVD player, as the Leverage team = JOY and knitting the day away (I've got a Frank Iero-inspired fingerless gloves pattern I'm working on. zabira has made me promise to actually SEND A PAIR TO FRANKIE OMG, since I started designing them after giving them to him in a dream)
I've got all the podfic saved up for boring work days, but am VERY EXCITED about Eight Sessions AND J2 BULLETPROOF! OMG! this was my most wished for story to have podfic'd since last summer when it was posted!
Leverage disc, now in DVD player. SHOW OF MY HEART. It's hard to believe it's barely been around a year! It makes me happy in many of the ways dS makes me happy! But with more Parker!
I need to make a cardigan or a sweater [jumper] someday. Like its one of those things you DO as a knitter, but I don't really wear them even when they are mass produced and I HATE finishing and seaming and blocking and lack the desire to not knit scarves. I enjoy the mindless repetition that makes most people hate knitting scarves.
I might hit Reparo sooner or later, as I am always in the market for slash to listen to, despite my HP apathy (I've never even finished the series. Turns out, I really just liked Sirius Black). I've also got FayJay's recording of Tissue of Silver sitting around somewhere. Of course, the last time I tried for podfic without being involved in the fandom , it was Fayjay's recording of Gerard Way's (Vampire) Detective Agency , (seriously - BRILLIANT as a fic AND as a recording, and a great example of how MCR fic is
( ... )
I think the desire to respect him as a person comes solely from my end. Like, sure I LOVE that Gerard and Frankie and Mikey are HOT, but I'm more charmed by how they are flaily enthusiastic dorks who don't know they are rock stars. And I TRY to go and respect William as a person, but then he'll do something like the "About a Girl" video, where he chokes himself and smiles and my brain stops working beyond OMG HOW IS HE SO HOT?!?!?!?
(It doesn't help that I have a hard time WATCHING INTERVIEWS. Strange squick is strange)
Ahhh, I see what you mean. He is very DISTRACTING! But he's also a dorky awkward overly-earnest genius! If you want, I can try to dig up this thing on YouTube that's like a compilation of great clips of him from TAITV episodes that is *hopelessly cute* but not interview-like.
I've been poking about the edges of TAITV for a while now, but if you've got a handy link....(my desire to see hot boys flail around adorably makes it sad that I get twitchy when people are forced to talk to a camera!)
Plus, I am happy that is really IS a dorky awkward genius! As I am fond of that type. And then I can objectify with less guilt!
That first part really, truly sucks... but that last part? *flails over librarian!MCR and their antics* Someone, anyone: I'd like 10,000 marbles words of that, please! <3
Someone has to have written an epic library AU already, right? Because Gee would totally want to use literature to save kids! And Frankie would be the worst librarian ever, but still really enthusiastic about it, and he'd keep getting in trouble for cursing and standing on tables and talking really loud. And he LOVES the books has IDEAS about information accessibility and the whole thing, but never really felt like he belonged until he stumbles across librarian!Gerard and his crazy band of library misfits.
Frankie's librarian enthusiasm would be priceless. He would keep telling people that he "loves that motherfucking novel" and forget the whole "whisper" thing, and would keep trying to get teenagers to check out the really gorey horror novels and they'd LOVE HIM and their parents would wonder why their kids keep hanging out in the library all the time, and show up and he'd be outside, looking tiny and young and smoking and cursing and covered in tattoos and the adults WOULD NOT APPROVE, but at the same time, who tells their kids to stop going to the library? And he'd tell everyone that the compact shelving is haunted! And climb up on top of the stacks and hide and try to scare Bob!
David Sedaris's The SantaLand Diaries. DUDE. If I lived anywhere near close to you, I'd be all over these. I have the audiobook of this and it's ~amazing~.
ALSO: It occurs to me that Brendon Urie is sort of the John Sheppard of bandom? All tiny and faggy and rejected by his family.... Ouch. I did not know he was at odds with his family.
Could be worse? I could be trapped in the blizzard zone taking care of a bunch of kids, too? I am LESS bothered by the whole Christmas thing and more sad that I MISS MY WIFE and am pathetic without her
( ... )
I am LESS bothered by the whole Christmas thing and more sad that I MISS MY WIFE and am pathetic without her? Oh yeah, I get that. :( I hope she'll be back asap.
I, too, feel pretty meh about all the Christmas happenings, but that book was pretty fantastic. Still, three hours is A LOT. (You should at least download the audiobook, though. I may or may not have it lying around here somewhere, I will check.)
and sort of kicked him out when he didn't go off to college and instead became the frontman of a very gay little emo band. Ooh! I didn't know about any of this. (Hah, of course he'd be fandom's woobie.)
I'm sure the Sedaris thing is worth going to? It is sold out, after all :D And I've read his books and seen him give a lecture/talk/whatever you call it. Just, ARG. 3 hours, and I do it every day for work, so having a day off is NICE, and if I miss the last bus past my apartment, it's not a fun walk (not far, but uphill and across big interstate overpasses. I did it Wednesday night, as they cancel that route if there's any snow, since it goes through some hilly places further up and is usually mostly empty. COLD)
I actually have the audiobook already, but thank you!
(Hah, of course he'd be fandom's woobie.) Now I'm going to have to go and fall in love with Panic(!) so he can break my heart a lot. Awwww..... I like Panic(!) just fine, but I don't LOVE them the way I love my other bandomy bands, and am resistant to the idea of reading a lot of OTP breakup fic?
I think I saw that Z is intending to give you a formal introduction to Gerard Way and company? As his tendency to be earnest and nerdy and flaily and excited about things like saving kids through music (or BOOKS, perhaps?) is one of my favorite things ever! They are ROCK STARS who regularly geek out about things like Dungeons and Dragons and comic books! The My Chem boys, ENDLESSLY DELIGHTFUL
( ... )
I'd guess Life on the Murder Scene , which, seriously, LOVE. It's absurd. It took me all of 5 minutes before I had to actually STOP THE MOVIE and declare my endless love for EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM. I think it's specifically designed to melt the hearts of every possible viewer.
I got to know the elder Mr. Way during his bleached blond era, so it's not strange, though I do prefer the black hair. And there's a lot of reasoning behind the blond that has very little to do with vanity and more to do with that strange earnest dedication he brings to EVERYTHING.
(Z has promised to come to a show down here, too. I am a bit intimidated by the MCR fans, but I am GOING TO SEE THEM, I swear.)
I am attempting to subdue the librarian!Gerard plotbunny before it makes me attempt long AU fanfic. As that would only lead to frustration. Perhaps someone will adopt it?
