I can't even believe it has been so long since I last posted. Oops!
Lots has been happening and this is sure to be long-winded so I'm hiding it under
a cut.
Work has been crazy and pretty exhausting. But I spend way too much time and energy either working or thinking/talking about work, so I'm not even going to bother here.
Family:
- Michael and Sarah are back from their epic trip to South East Asia. It is so completely fabulous to have them home! We have spent a lot of time talking and catching up but I have yet to see any more pictures than the ones they posted on their awesome travel blog (www.southeastasiatravel2009.blogspot.com)
- My parents were supposed to be in England right now, after a lifetime of dreaming about going, but the Iceland volcano had other ideas and they couldn't go. Boo hiss.
Movies:
- Mike's new movie G u n l e s s* is in theatres now. We had a big red carpet premiere in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago, which was tons of fun (and resulted in my - very brief - ET Canada debut!) and the movie is adorable, charming and fun. We also went again on opening night with a whole group of friends and family and everyone enjoyed both the movie and Mike's performance (and particularly the outtakes during the credits)
- Mike left this morning for 6 weeks in Winnipeg. He was supposed to have gone last month but the movie schedule was bumped several times. But now he's gone and I am on my own (with the animals for company at least!) I am planning to keep myself very busy writing, working on my house and spending a lot of productive time in the studio
Studio:
- Did I tell you guys that a boutique on Main Street wants to sell my jewellery? I just have to get my marketing materials sorted out and then take them more samples (I was shopping there last month wearing one of my rings and she asked me to bring in my stuff for sale!)
- Now that Sarah is back we were planning to get working in the studio together last weekend but when I arrived on Saturday morning I discovered that it was flooded. Ugh. Our studio is right next to the building's utility room and it turns out that the hot water heater busted, flooding through to our room. Thank god I showed up when I did (it's unusual for me to be there that early on a Saturday) because none of our stuff was too badly damaged. Some stuff got wet and we ended up spending the entire weekend cleaning up, moving furniture and dealing with the landlord and carpet cleaning guys. We've wanted to put up a new coat of paint for months, so since we were moving all the furniture anyway we finally got around to it. We got one coat up on Sunday and I took the day off today to finish up. The place looks way better, despite still being untidy and disorganized, and we're going to be really happy with it once we get things organized and prettied up. It's going to feel like a whole new space!
- I have really gotten some great new work done in the studio. I'll try to get pics taken and posted soon, but it has been so good for me to just get in there and work creatively. Things are coming together in new ways and I have a number of pieces that I am really happy with. In case I haven't mentioned it before I am working primarily in polymer clay, making mostly jewellery. We have been focusing on clay for over a year, which is INSANE for us - we usually get obsessed with a particular medium then tire of it after a few weeks and move on to something new. But clay has really hooked us both, and we're still going strong and getting better all the time! Now to actually get back in there to work together...
* pardon the weird spacing but producers google alert their own titles to see what the buzz is like and I would rather avoid having them stumble on my blog (and I generally don't lock posts so that my non-LJ friends/family can read)
