Kate and QB Blog The VMAs!

Sep 08, 2008 01:26

So, I just got off a 10-hour shift at work a few hours ago, and I got home, and I said to myself, "Self, you could go to bed, OR you could make QB stay up late with you and watch the goddamn VMAs." Obviously, masochism trumps a good night's sleep, so QB and I sat our asses down and watched the whole enchilada. On top of everything else? We were ( Read more... )

Aw. I never actually watch these damn things (or recognize the names of most of the attendees for that matter) but your recaps of them are a beloved tradition. Now I'm all nostalgic.

I wish I had tagged my entries better back in the way back days. I'm only finding two other awardsnark sections, and I feel like there were many more.

Also: hi! How are you? I have missed you! What's happening?

QB wonders if Russell Brand is the UK Lewis Black. He yells a lot.
Huh. Doesn't seem like his best night. Russell Brand doesn't yell. He rambles.

she has the voice of a 47-year old chainsmoking truck stop waitress.
It's so weird! Except...I think I kinda like that "7 Things" song.

Russell Brand says something gross about Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers and she looks mildly horrified.
That sounds more like Russell Brand.

QB and I decide that Russell Brand is useless, and we fast forward through everything he says. Hopefully we didn’t miss anything good! I sincerely doubt we did.
Awww. You should find some of his stuff on YouTube. He's pretty hilarious. Did you see Forgetting Sarah Marshall? He's awesome in that.

My girlcrush on the leadsinger of Paramore takes a hit in the face of her heinous yellow pants. She sort of canters around the stage. QB slightly understands my crush now, as he is overwhelmingly impressed by her ability to headbang and sing at the same time.
Wooooo, Hayley Williams.

I will admit he made me chuckle a few times, but overall he was a bit spazzy for me. I was at work from 1pm-11pm though, so I was maybe too tired for his particular type of humor. I haven't seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall yet - I am so lame about going to movies in the theater, these days. I just wait for the DVD so I don't have to leave my house.

How are you, my dear?

I am exceedingly busy at work, and I need to write a short story before I never write anything again.

I feel your pain, dude. I am surrounded by books all day, and yet this entry? Is the most I've written in months.

Russell Brand works best when everyone doesn't mind dirty jokes. Too bad the audience is mostly tweeners who are far too excited for the Jonas Brothers to get most of what he says. Or maybe I get more of it because I find British humor hysterical more often than not.

Oh, I love me some British humor. QB and I thought we might find him more delightful if he were talking about British culture instead of American. We'll have to give him another try in a different setting.

Yeah, you should. Though, you may well want to avoid him with KBell in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (unless you want to see him with more penis jokes.)

How's the store doing, by the way? I can tell by your comment about the Twi Kids you're over that book series.

You know, I had actually managed to avoid reading any of the books in the series, but before Breaking Dawn was released, I figured I'd give Twilight a shot, since no one in my store was crazy about the series. I reaaaaaaaaaaally didn't like it at all, for a lot of vaguely feminist reasons. I have heard it is quite polarizing on the interwebs, though I stay out of a lot of fandom stuff these days, due to lack of time.

Girl, please. There ain't nothing wrong with your taste. You're hanging out with me right now, aren't you?

(Oh, also, remember how all y'all got into the J2 fic like a million years ago, and I was all, "No thanks, me and Rosenbaum are cool over here."? Well, I kind of have accidentally started reading J2 fic lately, and am now obsessed with it. I am always at least 2 years too late to every part.)

Also, hi! How you doin'?

Haha, I always love your VMA commentary. I'm a freshman in college and I don't know who half these people are, so don't feel bad.

I was kinda hoping Robert Pattison would actually say something, because he's actually pretty funny, but I think he sorta hates American pop culture after doing Twilight.

I don't know much about Robert Pattinson, but his hair is so awesome, that I think I need to befriend it, and by extension, him as well. It is like, an entity to behold.

It very much is. I think it's his fangirl warning system. He gets accosted so often, poor thing.
