Faith Lehane, known simply as Faith until 2005 when Joss was told she needed a last name, was a character in the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series. She popped up in season three, was in a couple of episodes in season four and returned for the final kick ass season. She was the "bad slayer", the dark to Buffy's light, but she remains my favourite slayer to this day. We didn't get a whole lot of back story on Faith in the series, save for a few lines here and there, a lot of her history comes out in the post-series comics. She's not a perfect character, she plays the line of good and evil a lot more closely than Buffy ever did. She struggles with what having this awesome power means, how it can corrupt you. Buffy had a support system, Faith did not in the traditional way, and it broke her. She was supposed to be the Chosen one, but she somehow ended up being the one who no one wanted. She was the last slayer to be activated in the regular way, the third in the series. All she ever wanted was to be wanted, and that kept getting taken away from her. This mix is contained within the TV series, because if I went any further it would have been ridiculously long.
The quote itself is one of those little chinks in Faith's armor, a little monologue said to Joyce. Faith has woken up and found that the world has changed and no one cared to make sure she was okay. And she's not even surprised. She's gotten so used to being thrown away. As a child, as a slayer, even as a villain. I'm gonna stop rambling now, enjoy the mix.
When I'm fighting, it's like the whole world goes away and I only know one thing: that I'm gonna win, and they're gonna lose. I like that feeling. (3x3 Faith, Hope and Trick )
