fangirling

Man, i'm such a fangirl. For random shit too. I think I just like famous people.

Richard Stallman gave a presentation at the Brisbane Convention Center today. I was there half hour before the event started, collecting free stickers and signing petitions against software patents, and suddenly there he was, like RIGHT THERE. So I asked for his autograph. He has bad hearing, so he was all "What? Speak louder, I can't hear you!"

Anyways, i'm really really really happy. I didn't expect to get an autograph, so I had him sign one of the random papers they were handing out. It's a document he wrote entitled, "Software Patents and Literary Patents". Ew.

Some guy drove 700 kilometers to see him. He also brought a copy of the GPL 3 for him to sign. That's hardcore!! Stallman also auctioned off a stuffed gnu plush for the FSF, and it sold for $360! Crazy!

Anyways, it's Gnu-Linux, b/c linux is just the kernel they used. Some dude just started calling it Linux, and now that's how people remember it. I feel kind of bad for not knowing.
