my land of Dragons

I have come to realize that I have a difficult time acting my age. As a result, I am not a very social person because the large majority of people here at college are not only around my age, but they enjoy acting my age. As a result of this...I feel lonely and question the justice of being raised to be a mature individual who can think for herself ( Read more... )

If you have to sacrifice a part of yourself that you respect and treasure, then you sure as hell haven't found the right friends.

I find myself wondering the same thing. I love my friends here, but sometimes I just feel like they can be so stereotypical. They normally just want to get drunk, find boys, and strip on the weekends...and while this is fun occasionally, it definitely gets old. Fast. Especially when you realize that you can't bring any of your male friends around because 3 of your female friends will try to seduce him in a drunken stupor. It's just...shallow.

Maybe it's just that you haven't found the right school? I know I sure as hell wouldn't feel as at home if I was going to Chico or UCSB, etc, etc. There are other people who feel the same way as you who are your age. They just like to hide so it's more difficult for the immature people to find them.

I'd hug you if I could. And yeah, life is confusing and college life certainly doesn't make it any simpler. :). You'll find people who can be the right amount of adult and dork, but like Kate said, they're probably hidden.

I wish that Long Beach Airport was bigger because I love people-watching and I feel deprived lately. I'm not sure what this has to do with your post, but that just came to mind.
