It souds like everyone failed this kid. His parents seemed to be in denial for a long time, waiting to have him diagnosed or disregarding doctors that referred them to specialists. And then when they did make an effort it seems to be only to get rid of him, when they begged the state for help. The state that offered constant supervision yet allowed him to leave the home with a knife no less. Now everyone wants to lock him up one way or another. Poor kid. I hope he does get special care. The people there may actually offer him...care.
That poor kid. His parents are just as bad as everybody else. He needs to go someplace where he can be cared for properly. By people that actually care about him. Unlike his parents.
the one thought that kept running through my mind while i was reading all of this stuff was, i wish i could take him home. my sister often says that i have a save the world complex. i can't help it. i think that after going through everything that i have, i hate to see anyone in need. i hate going out anymore because sometimes i get so overwhelmed seeing the homeless. i wish i could help, but i know i can't... blargh
