I'm taking a class about all that stuff right now. You should have the right as a parent to demand that he be educated in an inclusive classroom. Just don't let the administration bully you around. Good luck.

i know, it's just that fighting these bastards is so exhausting. if we lived in the suburbs it would be a nonissue. i hate this city.

...money...

Any suggestion that I'd have would, unfortunately, be expensive.

All I can say is that seeing a good doctor to tease out his problems and properly treat them can make a difference betwen him being able to function with other average kids versus being put into the hands of special needs.

I'd skip the bullshit testing and evaluation that is more focused on determining what THEY want to do WITH your son versus what YOU want done FOR your son.

If anything I'd work to see he gets the extra care he needs, but not being separated from everyday life and 'normal' children that is a must for kids when they grow up.

Odds are if he's borderline it's just an issue of how hard you want to push and how many alternatives you're willing to explore to make sure that he does have a good chance of leading a mostly normal life and only get special care in a non-intrusive way.

...

I'm sorry...

I wish that I could just make it better.
