[Frank Archer was not expecting to wake up in a strange room this morning. He wasn't expecting it to be cold outside, and he certainly wasn't expecting to find a strange bat inside the red-and-white ball sitting on top of the nightstand beside the bed he woke up in. It's been nearly a day since that happened, and he's been spending his time getting

As for the pokémon in the grass, the bat following you around? Does wonders. Mine here [Motions to his own Zubat hanging above his shoulders] levels up surprisingly quickly, so yours shouldn't take too long.

Is that what happened? [Guns don't just disappear. Someone must have taken it.]
"Levels up"? What do you mean by that? It scarcely defeated that bird-chimera. [The Zubat does look tired and stops to rest on Archer's shoulder. He shoos it off absently.]

[Shrugs.] Leveling up, training, you make it stronger it by teaching it how to fight and it will beat other pokémon you'll encounter, especially walking around the tall grass like that. You'll run into a lot more that just that...bird. [Chimera? Who is this dude?]

...That sounds... interesting... [Not at all. Ugh. So basically he's going to have to teach this thing how to fight? Archer eyes the bat warily for a moment.] ...You're certain this thing will be useful?

The bat, specifically, may not be as useful as other pokémon but- [Please pause for a brief moment while Bats makes his very annoyed squeaking sound and scratches at Robin's head. He pushes him away after a moment and returns to the screen.] It is your starter and until you catch something else, or trade it, it's all you've got.

I suppose so... [Oh look, it's another bat chimera. How can two of the exact same chimera exist? They even look exactly alike!] In order to capture these... creatures we're supposed to use the capsules left in our possession, correct? [Well, looks like he's going to be catching all the things!]

After you weaken the opposing pokémon you can catch it with these things. They're called pokéballs. You can buy more of them in stores and such and they can shrink to be easier to carry. [And he shrinks the one he's holding again, putting it away before pushing Bats out of the way.]

I suppose that's good to know.

If you ever want to get stronger pokémon than you have, you'll use them.

And no problem. I'm relatively new around here, but I know some of the ropes due to...certain circumstances. But I can imagine it'd be difficult for someone with no background knowledge. [And BAM. Subtle way of saying 'yeah I know I'm awesome, that's okay, I'm usually this awesome'. Because he's thirteen and kind of pig-headed.]

It is. [Yes, well, as long as your ego doesn't become annoying...] How long have you been here?
