[Frank Archer was not expecting to wake up in a strange room this morning. He wasn't expecting it to be cold outside, and he certainly wasn't expecting to find a strange bat inside the red-and-white ball sitting on top of the nightstand beside the bed he woke up in. It's been nearly a day since that happened, and he's been spending his time getting ( Read more... )

Anything that could be used as a weapon mysteriously disappears when you get here. Everything of mine is gone. [Huffs.]

As for the pokémon in the grass, the bat following you around? Does wonders. Mine here [Motions to his own Zubat hanging above his shoulders] levels up surprisingly quickly, so yours shouldn't take too long.

[Archer returns after a moment, absently tending to a cut on his cheek. The strange device is talking-- Oh! It appears to be some sort of phone. How strange!]

Is that what happened? [Guns don't just disappear. Someone must have taken it.]

"Levels up"? What do you mean by that? It scarcely defeated that bird-chimera. [The Zubat does look tired and stops to rest on Archer's shoulder. He shoos it off absently.]

[video] AW, THANK YOU <3 hackintheaster September 26 2011, 00:46:27 UTC
Basically. I have yet to find who, or what, could have taken them and how they managed to do it without my knowledge... But yeah. They're gone.

[Shrugs.] Leveling up, training, you make it stronger it by teaching it how to fight and it will beat other pokémon you'll encounter, especially walking around the tall grass like that. You'll run into a lot more that just that...bird. [Chimera? Who is this dude?]

That's unfortunate. Surely there's some place that sells some sort of replacement? [Of course he's talking about a standard military-issued gun here and not state-of-the-art Bat-Gear.]

...That sounds... interesting... [Not at all. Ugh. So basically he's going to have to teach this thing how to fight? Archer eyes the bat warily for a moment.] ...You're certain this thing will be useful?

I highly doubt it. They don't use weapons here. Pokémon are the most popular means of fighting.

I'm certain that it will be more useful than walking around by yourself. The bat, specifically, may not be as useful as other pokémon but- [Please pause for a brief moment while Bats makes his very annoyed squeaking sound and scratches at Robin's head. He pushes him away after a moment and returns to the screen.] It is your starter and until you catch something else, or trade it, it's all you've got.

[Why would you want to fight with these chimeras anyway?]

I suppose so... [Oh look, it's another bat chimera. How can two of the exact same chimera exist? They even look exactly alike!] In order to capture these... creatures we're supposed to use the capsules left in our possession, correct? [Well, looks like he's going to be catching all the things!]

[He nods and reaches down to his utility belt because yeah, he totally just stocked that up rather than carrying around the backpack. As much as he could, anyway. After a moment he pulls out a pokéball, enlarging it in his hand.]

After you weaken the opposing pokémon you can catch it with these things. They're called pokéballs. You can buy more of them in stores and such and they can shrink to be easier to carry. [And he shrinks the one he's holding again, putting it away before pushing Bats out of the way.]

[...Pokéballs. He's never calling them that. Does every item in this world have some sort of retarded name?]

I suppose that's good to know.

[Nods, because he definitely is feeling pretty awesome and intelligent right now.]

If you ever want to get stronger pokémon than you have, you'll use them.

Of course. It would be useful to have more than one. [Especially anything that's not as... useless as this bat seems to be.] Thank you. [That doesn't sound very genuine; clearly Archer isn't used to thanking anyone.]

You can also work it in a stair pattern. You use it to catch a stronger pokémon, which in turn can help you catch one stronger than that and so on. If you can build a well-rounded team, you'll be unstoppable.

And no problem. I'm relatively new around here, but I know some of the ropes due to...certain circumstances. But I can imagine it'd be difficult for someone with no background knowledge. [And BAM. Subtle way of saying 'yeah I know I'm awesome, that's okay, I'm usually this awesome'. Because he's thirteen and kind of pig-headed.]

[That certainly would work. Archer will certainly have to look into what Pokemon he can catch that are decent fighters.]

It is. [Yes, well, as long as your ego doesn't become annoying...] How long have you been here?

I've been here for about three weeks now. [Nods.]

I've met people who have been here for over a year. There's no info on how we got here or how we leave, either.
