Summary: During his younger days, Hongki was considered quite rebellious
His face hurt, swollen from the punch. It didn't matter though because the other guy got what he deserved. If Hongki's face looked bad, the other guy's face was ten times worse. But like many other times, it's only him getting in trouble. Throughout the years, he earned himself a reputation, one that he wore proudly. So what if people called him bad, those who knew him knew the truth. This wasn't like all the other previous times though. Somehow this fight had escalated past just the students and the staff. Now parents were all involved and they were all against him.
A meeting was called. Parents of students, including his mom and the school staff sat in the seats in front of him as they demanded him to apologize for what he did. His body shook, not because he was afraid but because he was so angry. All these people, they knew nothing about him nor did they ask for his side of the story. Sure he had built up a bad rep over the years but with everything he did, he wasn't a bad person. This time was the same. He got into a fight to protect one of his friend. Was that so wrong? But none of these adults had bothered to ask him. They just wanted to punish him, to criticize him, telling him he was wrong. They wanted him to admit he was wrong and that was one thing he wasn't going to do. He'll only apologize because he actually felt sorry.
Amongst all the noise, parents debating if he should be finally get kicked out of the school, he could hear his mother's voice. He watched as she stood up, walking to where he was, facing the rest of the parents. His annoyance grew as she pleaded for everyone in the room to forgive him, that he was still a child who was growing. He was going to make mistakes, he was only human. Hongki wanted to tell her to stop, to shut up. So many times, she was just like them. Accusing him of being wrong before ever trying to find out the truth. Just as he was about to open his mouth to tell her to stop, he watched as his mother fell down to her knees, head pressed against the floor.
Hongki was stunned, as was everyone else in the room. No one expected this. Guilt built up inside of him. His mother was always strong, with the way she raised him and just who she was in general. For her to do this, he felt ashamed to have even put her in the situation. No one said anything, it felt like eternity before the teacher gently pulled Hongki's mother to her feet. Saying there was no need for that. It was as if all the other parents could relate to Hongki's mom, to see the love she had for her child. Enough to go down on her knees in front of everyone, was not something that anyone could just do. To beg for forgiveness like that, they had to give her respect for it was commendable.
Finally, a head of the parents spoke, saying they accepted Hongki's mothers apology on her son's behalf. Hongki would still of course be punished but they wouldn't press the matter any further. One by one, the parents stepped out of the room, shaking their heads. Glad that Hongki wasn't their child, glad that they weren't the one kneeling.
Without waiting for his mother, Hongki left the room. Tears threatened to fall. He couldn't face her, he didn't know what to say to her. Pulling the phone out of his pockets, he did sent her a message.
"I'm sorry."
