Authors note: I wrote this for Christmas and finally got the time to finish it. I don't know why... but I really like Sang Bae a lot, I don't know much about him, I just like him for some odd reason.
Summary: Mireu notices the difference between last christmas and this christmas.
Mireu smiled brightly around the room as everyone cheered "Merry Christmas!" he turned his head to tease his best friend about something that had happened last year before realization hit him, slowly remembering that the other boy was no longer with them. His heart grew heavy, he couldn't help but feel like there was a piece missing, a very important piece. Not wanting to damper everyone else's mood, he quietly excused himself as he went into his room, claiming that he was getting his nintendo d.s. to play with.
He silently walked into his room, leaving behind the joyous table, missing the worried glance that Seungho gave him. He slowly slid into his own bed before pulling out his cellphone, fingers brushing over the keys as he quickly texted someone that should be by his side, celebrating with MBLAQ.
Merry Christmas Magnae.
It didn't take long, probably a minute or so before a response came shooting back, a loud beep could be heard, breaking the silence in the small shared room.
I'm not the magnae anymore Mir Mir~ you are. I'm just a random dongsaeng you have now~
A bitter smile graced Mireu's lip, that's right, he was the new magnae of MBLAQ now, something that he had trouble remembering on variety shows from time to time. Sang Bae left and was easily replaced by Cheon Doong, Sandara Park's younger brother. It's not that he hated Cheon Doong or anything, he just wasn't use to the other boy's sudden appearance yet. Right after Sang Bae announced his withdrawal, Cheon Doong was quickly placed in, as if he was suppose to be there the whole time. Filling that empty spot where Bae once stood. Mireu just couldn't help but call out Sang Bae's name automatically instead of Cheon Doong's. It hurt because the fans didn't know about Sang Bae so the change didn't affect them, but Mireu knew him, as well as the other 3 members, and it was, is a hard transition.
Christmas shopping for example, it was harder to shop for the new member compared to all the other members because he barely knew anything about Cheon Doong, he's known the other for less than a year. They get a long great but they don't have a deep relationship, not like he does with all his other hyungs, not like the relationship he had with Bae.
You would never be a random dongsaeng to me stupid. You are forever my magnae.
As well as MBLAQ's. That, he decided to leave out, knowing it would only make things worse. He didn't want to make Sang Bae feel even more guilty for his choice, Mireu did that enough when the younger boy told the group about his decision. He was the last one to accept the former member's choice to leave the group and he has yet to fully accept Cheon Doong into the group, but he's trying, it just took time.
Good. So you better make your magnae proud by making MBLAQ number 1.
A small laugh filled the room, that have always been their goal, to make the ultimate group and be number 1, not only Korea, but all over the world. The five of them use to stay up late at night, exhausted from training but their energy would always come back when they discussed the future of the group, those days seem so long ago yet still crisp in his mind.
Of course MBLAQ is going to be. One day, we are going to be known by everyone.
"Mireu?"
Mireu quickly looked up with a startled expression, eyes glancing at the door as it slowly opened to reveal Seungo. Of course the leader would notice him missing, the other noticed everything.
"What's taking you so long? I thought you were just grabbing your d.s.?"
Since it was Seungho, Mireu held up his phone, smiling softly "talking to magnae."
A smile graced Seungho's lip before he climbed into Mireu's bed, leaning on the younger boy, "Tell him I said Merry Christmas."
Of course you guys will, and I'll be right here, rooting for you guys~
Mireu smiled brightly, shoving his phone in Seungho's face to show what the ex member had sent him, along with the messages from earlier, "Look, Bae Bae believes in us."
Seungho nodded slowly before tilting his head to look at Mireu, "In order to do that… you have to accept Cheon Doong into the group…"
Mireu bit his lip, he wanted to, but a part of him felt like he would be betraying Sang Bae if he did, that he just let some stranger replace him. He glanced back at his phone, his grip tightening a little harder around the device before responding back to Bae, "I know…Seungho.. I know.." His eyes were trained onto the screen, avoiding the look Seungho was giving him.
Leader says Merry Christmas.
Seungho wrapped his arm around Mireu's shoulder, pulling him into a tight, one armed hug. He knew the other well enough to know what was going on in his mind, they all did, so they pushed off this topic for a while already, giving time for the younger boy to adjust. But a new year was starting, and he wanted Mireu to get more comfortable with Cheon Doong.
"You know, we aren't replacing Bae with Cheon Doong….right?"
Mireu closed his eyes, relaxing against Seungho's body. Honestly, he had nothing to say to that, he wanted to believe it wasn't so.. but everything they were doing now, were things that they used to do with Bae. He felt as though the former member was slowly fading from his hyung's minds, and new memories with Cheon Doong were replacing them.
Hearing no response, Seungho decided to continue, "Bae is still part of our family, and he always will be… but you have to make room for Cheon Doong too…"
Just as he was about to respond, Bae sent another message, opening his eyes, Mireu looked at his phone.
Okay I have to go now but tell everyone I said Merry Christmas. And tell Cheon Doong-sshi that I hope he loves you guys as much as I do.
Both of the members looked at the message, the words that sprayed neatly across the screen was touching. It was simple yet it meant a lot to them. Sighing deeply, Mireu slowly climbed off the bed after playfully pushing Seungho off his bed, "Okay, let's re-join the party. I bet they are bored without us."
Landing on the floor with a thud, Seungho glared at Mireu, he got up and stood up, wiggling his fingers around. Mireu could already guess what that meant, everyone in the band knew how ticklish he was, it was really an unfair disadvantage for him. He eyed Seungho wearily before quickly dashing out the room, running to hide behind Joon, "Save me Joonie!"
"YAH! Get back here!" Seungho screamed, chasing after the young boy, laughing as he did so. He tried to push Joon out of his way, it was obvious whose side the other was on, it was a no brained, Joon and Mireu went together like peanut butter and jelly, "Move Joon!"
Laughing, Joon used his whole body to fend off Seungho, flailing his arms about, keeping the leader at a distance as he protected Mireu. Seeing that it was unfair, two versus one, G.O. decided to join in. He sneaked up, wrapping his arms around Mireu from behind, "Gotcha!"
Eyes widening, Mireu tried to break free, "AHHHH Joonie help!! A hairy monster got me!!"
Still fending Seungho off, Joon shouted over his shoulder, "I can't. I have to deal with your monster from earlier! Just fart on him or something!"
Once Joon's suggestion reached GO's ears, he immediately let go and backed off the younger boy. No way did he want to smell that. He quicklyly shook his head, holding his hands up as if he was surrendering, chuckling "Let's no get to that level."
Mireu cheered around happily as he was now free, grinning triumpathly as he waved his arms about. Deciding to help his team mate, Mireu runs over to Seungho and Joon, hopping onto the leaders back.
Whilst all this was happening, Cheon Doong awkwardly stood off to the side, unsure of what to do. He wanted to join in, it all looked fun, but he knew that Mireu was still hesitant around him and he didn't want to upset the younger boy.
Glancing up, Mireu's eyes landed on Cheon Doong. He wanted Cheon Doong to join their family as well, to love him as well the other members like brothers. He won't let the boy replace Bae, but he was willing to let accept him..... eventually. He slowly raised his hand, waving it as he screamed across the room, "Cheon Doong Ah! Help us defeat this monster!"
If anyone else was shocked by the younger boy's outburst, they sure as hell didn't show it. It took a minute before Cheon Doong slowly smiled, nodding his head as he joined the group. The transition might be slow, but it was definitely heading in the right direction.
A proud smile formed on Seungho's lip as Cheon Doong joined the group, the only ones that were aware of it were Joon and GO. He was proud of Mireu, that was a good first step. He made a quick memo to himself to remind to tell the rest about Bae's message. Right now, he had more important things to think about. He had to fend off the three boys on his own because GO was no help.
