The park was empty except for the night’s wind which was teasing the newly bloomed sakura. The
lights from the lamp-post gave the beautiful park a calming feeling, as if it was a mystical garden that
was untouched by humans and made for the Gods. And the stars twinkling in the sky was like
fireflies, hinting that it was the road to Heaven.
It was a night that was much appreciated by Saga, reveling in the fact that everything was serene
and he truly felt like he was in heaven on earth. He liked coming to the park at night; it was as if the
park had come to life when the darkness settled in and what made tonight special was that he had
the love of his life beside him. He gave a contented purr and cuddled closer to his lover’s chest as
Tora twirled with the ends of his hair from the hand that was draped around his shoulder.
“Tora…” Saga broke the silence.
“Hmm…? What is it, Love?”
“I’m glad that you’re here with me tonight. You make tonight even more beautiful.”
Tora looked down to his lover and captured the other man’s eyes. Those eyes which was shining
with love and care for him. And he loved the man even more than he thought he could and showed
it by sweeping the other man off the ground by kissing his lips. Both of them were left panting from
the passionate kiss.
“What was that for?” Saga whispered when he composed himself.
“That was for being who you are. I don’t think I can ever live without you, Saga.” Tora whispered
back and smiled.
Two birds landed onto a branch on the sakura tree in front of them and the birds’ cuddles up against
each other before flying off into the beautiful night.
“Tora… I have a wish…”
“What is it?”
Saga’s eyes trailed after the two birds till they were swallowed by the darkness of the night. “I want to fly. I want to know how it feels like to fly. To just be free and follow the wind. That’s all. That’s my wish.”
They lapsed into the silence again, but Tora had made a promise in his heart. “I’m going to grant you
your wish, Love. I will grant it.”
*
Saga sat quietly on a bench on the park and looked on at the children who were playing at the
playground. He thought that by sitting there it would somewhat lift his heavy heart. It did help a
little but his mind was still plagued by thoughts of Tora.
His lover had been slipping off right after practice and come back late at night. He would quietly slip
into bed and he would just stare at Saga when he thought that the man was asleep. What made Saga
even more concerned were the cuts and bruises that Tora seemed to be sporting under the long
sleeved shirts. The love of his life was becoming more distant and it was worrying him a lot. Bad
thoughts had gone through his head and Saga had to force himself to think positively in order to
keep his sanity intact. He refused to even think that Tora would cheat on him. He knew Tora better
than that.
A pair of hands suddenly landed on his shoulders, making Saga jump. Saga turned to look at the
person who had startled him and found himself being kissed on the temple by none other than Tora
himself.
“I knew you’d be here.” Tora said as he took a seat beside Saga.
“Why? Were you searching for me?” Saga asked, trying to sound indifferent despite his heart doing
somersaults in his chest.
“Yeah. I want you to see something. Would you come with me?” Tora held out his hand and looked
at his lover, waiting for Saga to accept his invitation.
Saga bit his bottom lip, contemplating whether this was a good thing or not. But he decided to take a
shot and he grabbed the open hand of his lover. Tora guided him to the car and proceeded to show
him a piece of cloth.
“What’s the cloth for?” Curiosity evident on Saga’s eyes and face.
“Blindfold. I want it to be a total surprise. Just humor me this time?” Tora asked, throwing on his
most lovable look for luck. Saga gave an exasperated sigh but he complied, letting Tora put on the
cloth on his eyes and tie it at the back of his head.
They drove off and it felt like a lifetime till Tora stopped the car. Tora helped Saga out of the car and
gently guided Saga out of the car.
“Where are we?” Saga asked. He could feel strong winds blowing against his face and he wondered
where in the world they were.
“We have to walk a little bit. Just a little bit, okay?”
“Okay.”
Saga let Tora guide him to their destination and suddenly Tora stopped and took off the blindfold.
Saga’s eyes were met with the most wondrous sight. He was on top of a cliff and he could see the
whole town from where he was from. But what surprised him most was the paraglide that was a few
feet away from him.
“A paraglide?” Saga asked, looking at Tora, waiting for an explanation.
Tora chuckled and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “Uh, the reason I was distant from you
these past few weeks was because I learn how to paraglide. Remember you once said that you
wanted to know how it feels like to fly and I wanted to fulfill that wish. It took me quite some time to
learn it and I deeply apologize for avoiding you. I was afraid that if I was near you then, I might tell
you what I was doing. So uh… I passed about a few days back and I wanted to take you up here.
We’re going to fly.”
Saga stood like as is he was rooted to the ground. That explained everything and when he finally
snapped out of his trance he rushed to his lover and kissed the man senseless. He couldn’t believe
Tora had gone through all that just to make him happy.
As they soared into the sky, Saga felt like he was in heaven. He was free and he was like a bird. But
most of all, what truly made it meaningful was that he was flying with the person that he loves most.
Tora.
