Title: Of Coldness and Anxiousness
Author:
saerashi for giving me the courage to write this!
It's my first ever J2 fic and I'm nervous...
The lower part of the window was opaque due to the coolness of the winter frost; the window sill covered in white snow. The room walls seemed to be embracing the slightly harsh weather, absorbing the coldness.
Despite having the heater and wearing socks, Jensen still felt that it was too cold. He hated the winter because it always left him chattering and his fingers and other senses numb. Not to mention that his skin would become dry and he would always, always catch the hideous cold.
Jensen found out that the cold and anxiety was better than a cup of strong black coffee because even after three hours of tossing and turning, he was still wide awake and sleep was still extremely far from his grasp.
Jensen let out a tired sigh and he decided he needed to get out of the bed. As carefully as he could so as to keep Jared deep in his slumber, Jensen left his bedroom and covered himself in Jared's warm robe before leaving the room.
He made his way to the room next to his and Jared's, his heart thumping faster in his chest. He held onto the doorknob and hesitated for a heartbeat before turning it and stepped inside. His eyes gazed around the room; taking in the colourful painted walls to the crib, the drawers which he knows was filled with baby clothes and all the other necessary stuff and the rocking chair in the middle of the carpeted room.
Jensen's feet didn’t make a sound as he moved towards to the rocking chair, gently lowering himself onto the seat. Jensen began to rock the chair with his toes, closing his eyes and letting himself drown in the smell of Jared which had lingered on the robe. A sudden movement in his belly had him smiling and his hands flew to his protruding tummy automatically.
He rubbed his stomach as the kicks increased, and he chuckled at the thought that had popped in his head. "The kid’s going to have Jared’s Sasquatch feet." He thought amusingly.
As the kicks died down, Jensen’s mind began to play the anxiety story. He was only two weeks away from his supposed due date and he was nervous and scared. He was afraid that he might hurt the baby in some way and he came to the conclusion that he wasn’t prepared to raise a child. He knows Jared was more than capable, but what of him. How would he handle it?
Jensen was so immersed in his thoughts that he didn’t notice Jared sneaking into the room till he closed Jensen's hands which was still on his belly.
"Jare...!" Jensen exclaimed in surprise as his husband squatted in front of him.
Jared gave his spouse a lopsided grin and caught Jensen's eyes. “You taking junior a tour of his room in the middle of the night?"Jared teased and Jensen merely chuckled. "Babe, let’s get back to bed k.. It’s cold..."
Jared stood and was about to pull Jensen with him when the other man grabbed his wrist. Jared turned and looked at Jensen. “What’s wrong, Baby?”
“Jare..., I...I’m scared..." Jensen said, not moving from his spot.
“Afraid of what Jen...? The birth?”
"Everything about the baby Jare... I’m so scared. What if I hurt our baby and what if-" Jensen's next words were cut off as Jared kissed him.
"Jen, don’t ever doubt yourself... I’ll always be here for you and junior so you don’t have to worry about anything ok." Jared said in a comforting tone which managed to calm Jensen down. They shared another kiss before going back to their bedroom.
As they lay together, with Jensen cuddled up against Jared’s chest, he thought that everything would be okay.
