A word I hate

Authors? Please, never use the word 'turgid' to describe a body part. EVER. Especially not a dick. A turgid dick is, in my mind, one that is spongy, cold, moist. Perhaps chewy. Quite possibly rotting. Turgid is a word for your pruny old auntie with the faded brownish-maroon curtains. It is not a word for anything you'd want to have sex with, ever.

I have difficulty envisioning the word "droll" as meaning it actually does: "humourous, funny, etc." In my mind, it means precisely the opposite.

Then again, my English tends to be bizarre and word cruft-y.

Also, turgid, to me, sounds like something infected with a disfiguring illness. *immediately looks up definition* "Inflated, overblown"? Sounds more like his penis has been inflated like a balloon.

...ew...

How this to add to your Nightmare Fuel: "Turgid" is used to describe a cow's udder when it's full of milk. You can poke your finger against a teat and it will hold the depression for a bit before straightening itself out, so I hear.
