Prima wept.

Diatron held his brother in all of his limbs, trying in vain to soothe away an ache he could not fathom. He had held his brother in a similar manner when the Primes had imprinted his spark-case with the Matrix, and the gold-burn tracery of the Emblem of the Matrix was a bittersweet pain Prima would always carry.

But it was a different pain that wracked the smaller mechanoid. A mechanoid had killed another. It was unheard of. It had never happened before. Mechanoids died, from their sparks guttering, or from falling so fast they broke apart, or from falling into the dangerous mercury river that flowed deep underground. Fights had happened, and injuries inflicted by tools of trade and hands of skill, but never this. Never this.

And Prima wept, for he had opened his spark to the murderer, and knew hate for the first time.

Diatron understood, now, what he was meant for. They were the first True Brothers - a single spark, split after ignition. The Allspark had provided them to give balance to the new world that Cybertron was to become. But he had never quite understood why. Prima loved everything, and was loved by everyone. Diatron did not, and what use was there for a leader who did not love all he oversaw?

This was his purpose. To be a strut for his brother. To be strength for their rule. To order what Prima could not. To have the murderer executed for his crimes.

Two mechanoids dead at the hands of another. The executioners, the new murderers, were pardoned - they had no hate for the criminal, and acted out of duty. Still, Diatron could help but fear that there was still a balance owed, still a debt to be paid. Only time would tell.

Two mechanoids lay dead. And Prima wept.
