I know right, Sakamoto is not that easy to write. In fact, many characters in Gintama are not as easy to write as they seem.

I mean, Sakamoto just can't be that stupid and as you said, there are come clues that imply that. Actually I would be interested to see how he got all these people to work for him ahahaha Damn you gorilla, make this into an arc! xD

The other day I read something on tumblr where someone posted that we learn more about Gintoki's past from the openings and endings that the actual anime/manga. I think that says enough ;)
