Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place

Cedric Diggory looked up in the stand and smiled as his eyes caught sight of his girlfriend Hermione Granger. He was scared but the proud and comforting smile on her face washed his fears away. Hermione’s smile always had a way of making the world stop and showing him that everything was going to be okay. Whenever he saw her smile it was like they were the only people in the room. They were all that matter. No one could harm them. No one could hurt them. They were in love. That’s all that matters. Her smile made him feel so good that he had looked away. Then he saw the maze and let out a sigh.

As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain

Last night was a hard night for him to think about. Hermione had met him in the library like they usually did and she sat there begging him not to go in the maze. It seemed like she thought something horrible was going to happen. He knew that it was hard enough for her to send her boyfriend off into uncertain territory but throw her best friend into the deal as well must have made things even more difficult. Cedric sat there trying to convince her that if they could steal and egg from a dragon and save people under water nothing bad would happen. Then he made this mistake of pointing out how Harry had fought Voldemort twice and survived. Hermione reminded him that he had never been up against Voldemort and just started begging him to drop out of the competition. Cedric held Hermione close and breathed in the scent of her bushy hair. Her hair made him feel safe and not scared. After an hour he had convinced her that he would be fine and saw the pain leave her eyes. He hated seeing pain in her eyes and would do anything with in his power to stop it.

Cedric wondered what their life would be like after the maze. If he won he was already planning on donating all the money to charity after he helped his parents pay off any debts they had and saved away enough for his last year of schooling. They raised him- it was the least he could do. Half of the balance would go to this charity he had discovered that helped disabled wizards play Quidditch. One forth would go to the Society of Protection of Elfish Welfare and the last fourth would go to a charity that Hermione picked. He felt the need to give some to spew but honestly didn’t think with 5 members he knew of it merited a lot. After that who knew. He could see himself marrying Hermione once she graduated and established her career if they were still together. Thinking of their unknown as of yet future family Cedric smiled mouthed, I love you at Hermione in the crowd and entered the maze. But he never returned.
