I like Guns Germs and Steel for nonfiction.

Under The Dome by Stephen King is fun if you ever wanted to consider what would happen if the plot of the Simpsons Movie was real.

If you want dystopian, I highly recommend Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness. falafel_musings recommended them to me, and they were fantastic. Book 2 was like New Caprica in book form, especially if Cain and Zarek had been in charge.

I also really loved The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, and I'm loving the sequel Children of God.

If you want something fluffy, it's hard to beat The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. Fun and adorable and girl power. The books are so much better than the movies.
