My very first OTP was before I had properly discovered fandoms, but it was for the comic series ElfQuest. I shipped Redlance (in my icon) with his lifemate Nightfall. There were a million things I loved about them, starting with the fact that she was the warrior and he was the gentle tree-shaper who, in the midst of the battle for survival, stayed behind to watch the children.
I also loved that they lived in a world where there was a force known as Recognition, which is basically a soul-mate philosophy which also involved having children, and they weren't Recognized. They loved each other fiercely and they chose each other, and chose to start a family together, and unlike other elf couples who did the same, they never Recognized anyone else.
Basically they were perfect and precious and why does no one know what ElfQuest is because I loved it so much.
Oh goodness, I think, after much consideration, that in this perfect world where I get whatever I want... I ask for an epic recounting of the year Snape was Headmaster. I want to know every little detail about how Dumbledore's Army formed back up, and all their acts of resistance, and how Ginny was feeling not knowing how the Trio was doing, and just EVERYTHING. In this scenario, I AM DREAMING BIG.
Ok, in my personal headcanon, Mels was found by agents of the Silence wandering New York after her regeneration. They took her back in, messed with her mind some more to train her to hate the Doctor, and then used whatever time travel tech they had (they must have had it, to get her to the 60s from Demon's Run) to take her to Leadworth.
It made perfect sense, as becoming her parents' best friends guaranteed that she would come into contact with the Doctor, and she would know when she had been born, so she could kill the Doctor without disrupting her own timeline.

I considered presenting that without comment, but I feel the overwhelming need to add "BECAUSE OF MOTHERFUCKING REASONS FUCK YOU TOO RYAN MURPHY."
