Meme

Because the thing that makes sense when I'm swamped with plotbunnies and schoolwork is to hop on the bandwagon and post a writing meme. Right? Right.

Never Will I Ever meme: Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return, I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.(And by the way, you people who told me I need to write ( Read more... )

Gaius stood frozen, unable to move, to make a sound.

The broken, abused prisoner… the cylon… stared unseeing, through eyes so blank, so familiar, that Gaius thought he might be sick.

Gaeta.

Felix sat very still in the cell. It wasn’t because he was afraid of the marines; they had guns, but they were trained in when to use them, and despite their anger he knew they would only shoot him if ordered to do so.

Felix sat very still because he was afraid if he moved, even a little, he would start shaking uncontrollably and never be able to stop.

He couldn’t stop replaying the last hour in his head- reporting for duty eager to meet the Pegasus crew, only to have their weapons aimed at him before he could say a word.

Adama’s shocked voice had rung out across the CIC, demanding they stand down, to take their guns off his senior officer of the watch. Felix had held his hands out slightly, otherwise motionless as the Pegasus men ignored the order.

“With all due respect, sir, I will not allow that thing to take another step into ( ... )

Thanks! Heh. I figured Baltar would try to protect him, just because... Well. He would. Not to the extent that he helped Gina escape, but he wouldn't just stand by if he had a plausible excuse to help him.

And like you say, Gaeta doesn't know anything. So I'm pretty much glad I got to stop here, because... I don't think I could have kept going.

(And by the way, when I first saw your prompts, I immediately went into a world of "But I don't WANNA write Adama happy!" And then this bunny nibbled, and I was actually relieved.)

Oh, that was good. I really liked this prompt and the chilling horror of it made my heart go pitter-pat. Also, I my Baltar/Gaeta shipper was very happy that Baltar stopped Cain.

Why thank you! I don't write these kinds of situations often, so it was an experiment in "can I do it?" I'm glad it had the intended effect. :) And I firmly believe that while Gaius probably wouldn't have the same reaction to this as he did to Gina, he would still do what he could to protect Felix.

Ooooh, I hadn't seen this one before! I really like this- a lot. I kind of wish you had kept going, because it doesn't have to end up with Felix being treated like the other Gaeta, even if Cain ordered it. It would have been interesting to see who saved him and to see the resultant Cain-Adama showdown.

And Gaius! I love Gaius here, because he so would do this.

Fantastic!

Thanks! I can't lie, every time I come back to this, I'm tempted to write more, because as you say, there's a bigger story that could be told here, I just have a hard time sustaining a fic for prolonged periods of time. And then I run into the issue of how much difference does this really make in the grand scheme, since there is still the issue of Tyrol and Helo killing Thorne.

... Unless Cain letting Baltar have this talk with Felix somehow changes the rest of her strategy...

See, now I'm thinking aloud, and it's gonna bug me.

Anyway, yes, yay Gaius! :)

OMG! How did I never see this amazing, chilling thing that an awful, demented part of me wants to see the rest of?

I just came here to say Happy Birthday and instead, it was I who got the gift! In fact, I'm not sure how I never saw any of this stuff on the post. It's all old, yet I'm not sure I've ever read any of it. My bad. But it's like when you lose 20 bucks in a coat pocket for six months and then you pull that coat out again and it's like found treasure. I'm going to totally read these now.

Ahem. The point of this was to come say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I hope you had balloons and pressies and little frosting flowers on tasty things. Here, have a fic comment as my gift:

Okay, first of all:
Gaeta had saved his life. He owed him this much.

This both killed me and made my shippery side aflutter, that Gaius would be motivated by that. He does tend to get kind of woobie when people save him. (And it's happened a lot, come to think of it.) But still ... you can tell that Gaius is working from a position of confidence that he is ( ... )
