[Ahh, Valentine's Day. A day of love! A day of shenanigans! A day of creepily taping boxes of heart shaped candies on everyone's doors! Or for being even creepier and doing the ninja thing, leaving behind well meant cards and such into a few specific rooms on their desks and refridgerating bovine. All the usual

They crossed paths at the mouth of the hall leading from the boy's dorms to the common area separating the two hallways. Tony's face lightened up noticeably so as Maxwell caught his eye. "Maxwell!" he cried, giving his steps an extra boost as he approached. "Good afternoon! What are you up to?"

"Just taking a walk," he replied and reached out to pat the top of his hat. BUT WAIT. What was that lurking behind him? Maxwell leaned to the side, raising a finger to point. "What's tha--"

What, too late? Aww. He was loveshot, baby, loveshot, and a song was stuck in your head and there was nothing you could do about it.
All of a sudden, he felt a twinge. Had he been... stung? He looked around to see what the big fuss was about, but there was nothing to behold. How strange. Tony looked back at Maxwell to ask him what the matter was, but an unexpected and familiar tug at his heart spun his words into oblivion to be lost forever.
It was very much like the ones he felt for Jeff every time he thought about him. A mixture of sublime warmth and confusion overcame Tony. He wasn't sure why his emotions took a complete U-turn, but it was as though a profound amount of love had been stuffed inside him in only a matter of seconds for the older boy in front of him. His lips parted in his dumbfounded trance as he was unable to fully grasp the true form of- the new direction his affection had taken.
Suddenly, being with Maxwell was... the best thing he could be doing right now.

What a curious feeling. A warmth was steadily building in his chest the more he looked at Tony. This was something... new. And yet it wasn't. It was an emotion that was already similar to what he had felt a few moments ago, but there was something more that felt like something else he knew. Perhaps for a... fro? But he certainly wouldn't know anything about that. As brave a scientist he was or wasn't at all, he was pretty dim when it came to the fires of love. It certainly felt nice though.
He blinked.
"Do you want to go get some tea or something?"

Whatever the case, it wasn't something that Maxwell was able to bring himself to do anything about at the moment. Not with a harbinger of joy clutching his arm, at any rate. Ah, Tony. His sweet, adorable companion. Maxwell removed his gaze from Lash's back, looking down into those beautiful eyes that were looking up at him with such brewing concern. Maxwell you were weird.
"Not to worry," he reassured him with a kind smile. "If it was very important I think she would have told me anyway." Maxwell paused. "I think." He patted Tony's hand. "I'll talk to her later. For now, I would like nothing more than to be with you. Now what were we ( ... )

Of course, Tony hadn't realized yet that Maxwell actually shared the same head-over-heels sentiments that were so powerful inside his chest. Nor had he quite uncovered the odd displacement of these feelings. It was a strange thing indeed. And for some reason, he felt so... excited about this newfound love for his other close friend. It was full of opportunity and, as a startling side effect, it didn't hurt quite as bad. There was nothing to be hurt about. At least, as far as he could tell yet. And oh, perhaps aside from that obvious rivalry with Lash.
"Then what are we waiting for! It's the perfect time of day!" he chirped as he let go of Maxwell's arm.

No wait, that was wrong.
"Er... To tea time!"
Tony might have let go of Maxwell's arm, but Maxwell was taking Tony's hand again as he set off down the hall.
