I heard from Sean about Heather, and J. and I have been meaning to make the following offer to you: when there's a break in classes, if you want to get out of the city to go somewhere green, we'll come and get you and let you chill here in Ithaca. I'll even let you have free use of my car and my phone (unless I need them for an out-of-town meeting), if that helps.
There are plenty of distractions here: waterfalls to hike to, sailing, kayaking (you can use my kayak, or rent one), an indoor climbing wall at Cornell, and huge-ass libraries so that you won't have to feel you're abandoning your studies. Blueberries are in season, and I've picked bushels and bushels of them-- what we don't use will be going to the freezer for blueberry pancakes whenever you feel the pancake-need.
I wish there was more we could offer you than sympathetic ears, food, and scenery, but those things will have to do. And coming to pick you up will give me a chance to check in with some of those Torontonians I hold so dear.
Albany is a few hours' drive from here, and if you guys ever come to the area, you're welcome to stay with us. We can easily put you up, and we'd feed you well!
