It is so difficult to be away from Australia right now. It's all happening: a female PM, a World Cup knockout so we can stop pretending that we care about soccer, and Masterchef is down to the top seven. I know that path! I walked there! If you keep walking for aeons a while in that direction there's the most adorable riverside pub, which was once referenced in a Dick Francis novel. It was the only thing about my stay in Oxford that I genuinely enjoyed (ironically, I think the pub is technically not even *in* Oxford).

(Insert heartfelt sympathies re: being away from home and then back home and then not knowing where home really is and wanting to be there but also wanting to be elsewhere, in short: expat commiserations.)

That's actually one of my photos from my last visit, but I've been wanting to go for a long riverside walk, so thank you, I will take that suggestion and look forward to a pub stop!

*hugs* Everyone tells you that travel broadens your mind, but they forget to mention how it can also tear you in half.

Travel is fine if you make sure not to stay anywhere long enough to truly get settled. If you do, you're fucked.

Yeah I do get what you mean, sometimes I feel a little guilty about running about to Melbourne when my friends post emo-crisis things on facebook, but then I feel like I cant constantly hold my life back for others. I was never very happy in sydney.
