Stevie Wonder, Usher and Shakira singing an R&B version of Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Higher Ground." Uh????

I thought "Higher Ground" was originally Stevie Wonder's and the Peppers covered it?

OK, I didn't actually know that, but my confusion was caused more by Shakira's participation. While there were many random duets, she seemed to be truly struggling with the lyrics. There were many instances when she was just standing there. I don't know if she just didn't bother to learn the words or if there was actually problems with the language barrier. Either way, although I do actually like most of her music, she just did not fit in.
