Went to the library today to see what I was talking about.  The "sequel" to American Gods was actually the short story "The Monarch of the Glen" in the anthology Fragile Things.  My bad.  Sorry 'bout that.  Next time maybe I'll read past the first paragraph of the blurb.

So, last night I was sitting in my room, watching my favorite tv show online while eating half a pint of chocolate ice cream, and my mom walked in and told me (seriously, not at all sarcastic) to "chill out."

Not as impressive as her usual standard, but it still made my head hurt slightly.

My mother believes that ninjas are entirely fictional beings created for the purpose of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

She also refuses to believe that their existence is common knowledge.

 How we got there is kind of a long story, but the point is my mother thinks the sentence  "I brush my teeth with monkey"  is sexual.

(It was purposefully non-sensical)

Got a call from my brother.  He's going away tomorrow, will be out of town for about a week (I think).  My mother told him he should probably go food/liquid shopping before leaving because (and this is coming from my brother) "by the time he gets back all of the supermarkets in Orlando will be closed b/c of swine flu."

Neither of my parents knew what a spork was prior to today.   This isn't normal, is it?
