~STEP ONE~
So, you've got this lovely crop of Jan Valentine being all badass even though we all know he's...well yeah. No spoilers for people who haven't seen it yet. Because, believe it or not, there ARE people who haven't seen the second OVA yet ANYWAY. My fandom aside, yes. Lovely base.
As always, go and copy the base. Then, set that layer's blending option to OVERLAY. After that, go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate.
Then, copy your original base again, bring it up top and set it to SCREEN.
~STEP TWO~
Now, make a new layer on top of it all, and get your GRADIENT tool, make your foreground color a bloodish kind of red (I'm using #AC0A0A). Set your gradient to RED TO TRANSPARENT.
Start the colored part of the gradient where the subject isn't, and go to the complete other side (diagnal, lolol).
Then, set it to LIGHTEN in the layer blending options, change the FILL OR OPACITY to around 60%-70%.
Then, copy your original layer, move it up top, and set it to LIGHTEN.
~STEP THREE~
Allright, almost done, I swear. +_+
Now, right above that red gradient layer, make a Hue/Saturlation layer. Do this by going to LAYER > NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER > HUE/SATURATION LAYER. When the new window comes up, change the SATURATION to -35.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT \o/ Seriously, it's easy, D'8
