Title: I've Got Soul, But I'm Not A Soldier Author: safiyabat Rating: PG Warnings: Mentions of Sam's time without a soul Pairing: None - gen Word Count: 1,459 Characters: Sam Winchester, Len Summary: Coda to 11.05, "Thin Lizzie. [Spoiler (click to open)]Sam visits Len at MCI-Cedar Junction and has a conversation with him about his condition.
I was really struck by how Len described being soulless - remembering what it felt like to do want to do the right thing, and knowing that something was wrong, and how much it sounded like Soulless!Sam. Soulless!Sam's whole story was a tragedy to me, and in a lot of ways Len's case brought it all back.
I really liked that you had Sam go and visit Len in prison. It's something I can totally imagine him doing. And I like him trying to give out some advice: be careful what you do, because if you do get your soul back, what you did when you didn't have it might be painful for you. Appealing to the practical side of a soulless guy, because there's no conscience to appeal to. Very nicely done! :D

(I just about cried at the end, when Len gave himself up.)
