Hi!  I'm back -- computer has been fixed!  It was actually pretty easy -- I made an appointment at the Apple store and they confirmed my diagnosis that the problem was a deterioration of the cord.  I got a replacement cord, which was thankfully covered by the warranty, and voila!  Good as it was before ( Read more... )

Now he's looking for a job. The sucky thing is that the bar results don't come out until November so chances are high that he'll only be able to work somewhere temporarily until we find out if he passed or not. But maybe not. He has a few leads that he's following up on this week. As you're aware, looking for a job is LAME!!!!

Shenandoah is awesome! My boyfriend and I did the whole of the AT through there years back. It ruled :)

The whole thing? That's hard core! The longest backpacking trip I've ever been on is 7 days, and by the end I'm really grateful for a shower. :P My through-hiking experiences have been limited to reading Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods and this new book called Cactus Eaters (about the Pacific Crest Trail).

Sorry, I think I maybe worded that funny - we did the whole of the AT in Shenandoah - so, just the 120 miles or so. It only took about 8 days, so completely not that hardcore at all :)

Um, I'm still defining that as hard core. :) 120 miles is nothing to sneeze at!

It was indeed fab and amazing AND MORE FAB. I love that phrase. I think you'll get a sense of the scenery when you're in North Carolina (of course, I'm basing my prediction on having only been to part of N.C. a few years ago... so basically I'm talking out of my ass.)

The trip to Shenandoah sounds like a fun escape. :) How far is the park from the city?

It's only 80 miles! Totally close! There's a lot of other hiking closer in, too. Apparently -- I'm still doing all my exploring.
