Happy New Year, all!  Tardy as usual.

Random stuff:

1.  Bad luck around the house lately... There was a minor flood from the upstairs apartment into our house.  I was staying home from work that day so I caught it as it was happening.  Quite a bit of drama later (the neighbors weren't home, but the husband's 80-year old parents were visiting from ( Read more... )

1. OH MY GOD. *huggles you* because oh my god. I mean, obviously there are worse things happening all over the world right now, but if I were actually faced with streaming toilet water, regardless of clean (seriously, I know they felt bad and were trying to make the best of it, but really? I mean, of course dirty would be WORSE.) :sends happy shiny things:

3. I still haven't finished reading all of MRHP. My life. :(

Yeah: streaming into the KITCHEN. I was like, NO NO NO NO. The landlords were skiing but we were still able to get in touch with them and get a plumber over that afternoon. Which was fine, but my house was the one that suffered the most from the incident!!! Argh. Thanks for your sympathy.

I haven't read all of the MRHP entries either... I feel like I should re-read the books myself, not read his recaps. But the Hunger Games books are fresher in my mind and his reactions are cracking me up. (Or reminding me of some of the horrors in the books.)

But I did read some of the sporadic Twilight entries and ended up laughing so hard I think I cried. Dude HATED that series... Each chapter's review was "And this chapter now wins the contest for the WORST THING EVER WRITTEN." Every successive chapter...

<3! That's when I DISCOVERED Mark Reads! With Twilight! I totally fell in love with his GIANT HATRED of Stephenie Meyer's terrible writing and plots. :D

*HUGS*

I felt bad laughing so much -- it was very mean-spirited of me -- but HE WAS HILARIOUS! He finished off the series by having the characters go confront Stephenie Meyer about what she did to them and it was brilliant.

I've got the first book of the The Hunger Games just waiting for me to finish up some other stuff. Everyone swears I'll love it.

Ack, that makes me nervous that you won't like the books -- if they're too hyped.

(Then again... they're pretty addictive. Cliffhangers galore that make the books hard to set aside.)

Boo for water damage! Such a PIA. Did the parents at least have cute Scottish accents?

It seems everybody I know is reading The Hunger Games. I guess I should add it to my list.

They did have totally cute accents! Their son does, too -- we have to talk to him a lot about shared bills and whatnot and I just love listening to him talk.

A word of warning on The Hunger Games: they're a fast read so be prepared to stay up late if you start. ;) I waited until a weekend, thank goodness, so staying up until 4 am wasn't AS destructive to my schedule...

Yeah, it was Not Cool. Plus, it was a vacation day for me and I was pissed to have to deal with all the drama rather than relax. :(

Oh noooo, I hope all the water problems are fixed now? Leaking bathrooms are the WORST :(

I somehow still haven't read The Hunger Games, but I really must add them to my to read list this year :)

Happy New Year to you too!

Happy New Year! Well, the leaking toilet problem is fixed but now the washing machine is being a jerk and not draining. ARGH.

The Hunger Games books are good -- a very fast, action-packed read. But also pretty dark (they're about teenagers being forced to kill one another for entertainment). Harry Potter got pretty dark at times too, but these books kick it up a notch.
