Better than the snuggie

Jan 10, 2011 18:39

Constant refrain in my house lately: it's so cooooold here!  Last year, I harassed my boyfriend into getting me a Snuggie -- mostly as a joke because we both liked making fun of the silly commercials.  He thought Snuggies were the most embarrassing invention known to humanity and I said if he loved me, he'd get me one.  He did.  ;)  But it turned ( Read more... )

OMG, I had no idea Mark Reads is now doing shows. I must go read his Firefly reviews!

The Softie does sound kind of amazing (my sister has a leopard print Snuggie and can't live without it, but I'll have to tell her about your Softie recommendation.)

I've seen the John Wayne movie adaptation and I do want to see the new one. I've considered reading the book, too.

Okay, so naturally, I went straight for Mark Watches Out of Gas, because, well, naturally. And he totally said it all right here: This episode is evidence for why Firefly should never have been cancelled. So, so, so right.

I know, I have to admit part of my love for Mark Watches is that he shares my opinion... His Firefly reviews are almost reverent. I ended up reading most of them at once because I couldn't remember each plot from the title. Which means: time for a Firefly rewatch! I needed to let it fade from my brain because I think I got to the point where I had every episode practically memorized. (I have to ration myself on Harry Potter re-reads, too.)

My Snuggie is blue so I mostly look like a spazzy smurf in it. :P I have to admit the leopard print looks pretty awesome.

I squeed madly once I saw Mark had started watchng Doctor Who. =D He almost makes me want to try Firefly again just so I can read his reviews (I tried the first episode a few years ago but it just didn't click for me).

Mark is kind of addictive. He just posted something about reading a book called Infinite Jest and I have no independent interest in it, but I like his taste in so many other things maybe it would be fun to follow along...

My fiance didn't catch the Firefly bug, either, so you're in good company. But oh how I loved that show!!!

I adore my Snuggie (which is pink, as is my daughter's and two of my friends', so we are quite cult-like in our warm comfort XD), and am now fascinated by your mention of the Softie... :D

Being raised on John Wayne films and adoring the original True Grit movie, I have to admit that I don't plan to see this one. I'll probably catch it down the road at some point, but I'm tired of remakes, so the combination of that and my loyalty to the Duke kind of put me off of it. :P

I keep meaning to follow Mark Reads, and I didn't know he also had a Watches blog!! I need to remember to check those. :D

The Softie also functions as a "throw", but mostly I just like that it's quilt-like (and very soft).

I totally want to see the original True Grit now. I didn't even realize this one was a remake until my fiance told me afterward -- it's going on our netflix queue!

It's not really a remake of the John Wayne version, just a new (and more faithful) adaptation of the original book. I LOVED it! And I'm enjoying all the Mark Reads/Watches, too.

I'm so glad Mark liked Firefly! I meant to read along as he watched, but I forgot, and I was pretty sure he would love it considering his good taste in loving HP - but I'm glad to know for sure!

Oh yes, Mark loves Firefly. It's kind of sad to read, knowing about the show's demise -- but on the other hand, like HP it's fun for the party to carry on even after canon has ended. :D
