Thanks to all the fanservice the dramadic atmosphere of the chapter only plays a minor role. My thought are to busy with... other stuff to worry about possible dramatic outcomes >.Maybe Zero will get seriously injured during the fight and then Sara will take the opportunity to kidnap him to drink his blood and torture him while being at it (being all "S" and all XD), but before she can take him Kana-chan rescues him and offers his blood to heal him (let´s just pretend he didn´t injure him in the first place *lol* XD) and we´ll have a delicious new biting-scene!!! XD It´s been too long since chapter 30 T_T 51 chapter makes 51 months plus some breaks...so it´s been more than 4 years since Zerorin and Kana-chan went all passionate XD

and about Kaname and the haters.... I think more ppl hate him compared to Shizuka and Ichiru just b/c he is a main character....its just part of a main charcter's fate to get hated on. And like you said, he is competition for Zero so that might contribute to the hate. Some ppl hate him b/c they consider him "emo". (Thats kinda ironic b/c I have these 2 friends and one is an avid fan of Zero and hates Kaname and the other loves Kaname but hates Zero. Their reason for hating is because they think the character is too "emo"...but I personally think that Zero and Kaname are on the same level of "emo-ness" =_=' )
Hate is also fueled by a few select individuals on forums...some Zero fans and Kaname fans often fight and bash characters.... which is why I don't go on forums anymore.
If only Vampire Knight was a yaoi manga, lol xD then there wouldn't be so much unpleasant bashing going on. ..

It's an interesting idea, but the whole conversation between Aido-dono and Kaname being fake? I don't know... Aido wasn't there when it started, so it looked sincere to me, there was no need for them to say such things if it were fake.
That said, I have absolutely no idea why he'd need to die. Turning Aido against Kaname sounds strange as a reason. Aido isn't a big deal, after all, what was so important about that.

Initially, when I saw the Chinese version of this chapter, I was focusing on the every angst that were presented, and then when the translation came out I was like... OH GOSSSHH!! T-The long awaited YAOI fanservice is finally here!!!~~ With Kaname & Zero at that!!~~ Kyaaaaahh!! And all those angst bubble surrounding me for about a couple of days just disappeared and being replaced by pink fangirly clouds! XD
It's horrible of me that INITIALLY I completely dismissed the fact that in the illusion, Yuuki had just been shot.. In my mind, it was like, it's okay if Zero shot Yuuki for siding/protecting with Kaname etc.etc. And I completely forgot that Yuuki is one the main characters in this series, that if she died, it's completely okay *runs away from Yuuki's fan chasing her with giant forks*
I don't have anything against Yuuki, just that I accept whatever route it takes for Kaname and Zero to be together finally... After all they're meant

That said, I have absolutely no idea why he'd need to die. Turning Aido against Kaname sounds strange as a reason. Aido isn't a big deal, after all, what was so important about that.
