Kurt was sitting with the list for summer vacation. It was always a puzzle to both have the station with a full staff every day, and let everyone have their wishes fulfilled for whatever days they had asked for. It always seemed like someone didn’t get their choice. Kurt tried to make sure that the one that drew the short straw last time was the one that got his or her first pick the next year.
For the last years, though, he hadn’t needed to think of whether the weather would be good or not. There had been a lot of rain at first, but when everyone had been back, the sunny weather appeared. In the end, Kurt thought he managed to make the vacation schedule work for everyone. He would take two weeks around midsummer and another two in August. He crossed his fingers that there was no murder or anything other that would need a lot of people at the end of June, as that was when he had those with least experience on duty.
