Welcome back viewers! It has been a while so I shall begin with a short recap. I had just finished visiting my family in North Carolina and was preparing to begin my trek north... In a rather patriotic fashion. After departing from Asheville I found myself in Staunton Virginia. I didn't know that there was anything there, however, as I drove into town I quickly realized that it had a decent sized historical district... and contained the birthplace and presidential library of Woodrow Wilson. It was pretty small and I was the only person there! All in all there wasn't much that I hadn't allready heard about him, but it was an interesting experience. Then some dude showed me around the house where Wilson was born, but I'm pretty sure he didn't live there very long. I was a bit confused about this. Anyhow, it wasn't very interesting but a good experience nonetheless. Additionally it would add to the large context with which I planned to celebrate the fourth of July.
From Wilson's library I headed straight for Monticello. I was lucky to get a tour of the house pretty close to when I arrived. The grounds there are amazing, beautiful, and informative. It's like an entire small town centered around the larger than life house. Larger than life not being literal. The house is actually not that big. But it's cool as hell. If Jefferson had even half as much stuff in there as the guides suggested he was a very smart member of our species. It's kind of amazing really. I found myself in awe of all the things he might have kept there and thought about. On the other hand, I also began thinking about... statesmen today. Oh how far we have come. After making a quick stop by Mr. Jefferson's grave I got on my way once more to visit my friend Tony in Virginia Beach. We had a hilarious time bowling and playing videogames. A very relaxing escape from family.
