AWE rewrite

May 25, 2007 22:27

I have had so much feedback from people responding to my 'review' post of AWE; people asking, nay begging for the threatened rewrite that I have to do it, kids. But I must preface by saying that while I love to write, a screenwriter I ain't, and my primary writing has always been erotica, since I was a teenager. Thts what I'm good at. Whoooo-f'in-hooooo! I'm onboard, mate. I have to say, a pissed-off muse is an inspired muse. Don't want to tread in your waters, to mix a metaphor, but I'm right there with you, unless you don't want company. Maybe we should correspond so that we don't overlap, not that it would matter as far as I'm concerned. We need all the rewrites and AU's we can get, and we surely aren't the only ones with raging muses. Sail on.

Hmmm...well, maybe they only meet on the island because it's a convenient place to go ashore? ;) I like to think that compass wasn't pointing to the rum at all, but rather toward where Elizabeth might be, whether it's that island or another. Or, it could be pointing to her ship! I think the reason Jack had such a hard time choosing the Dutchman for himself was not only did he truly not want to ultimately kill Will or be bound to it himself, but he knew that if he bound Will to it he would have Elizabeth to himself during the time Will could not come ashore. A pirate has to look out for his own interests, after all, and he *did* vote for Elizabeth to be King.

Anyway, I think he sails off at the end of AWE because he's off to have Elizabeth for himself before her marital bed has even grown cold. He's flying his own colours and laid aside the Pearl. Elizabeth has now become the woman who is wild and untamable as the sea, even though she holds a man's heart. That's how I like to look at it, anyway. Maybe you can use some of these ideas.~
