Still reflecting on the Orthodox wedding of Ryan and Masha. Prompted by receipt of a link to the professional photographer’s pictures (outstandingly fine work). And by receipt the day before of heirloom negatives from my cousin Marsha. Wedding photos of old relatives passed from living memory. The near rhymes and coincidences accumulate

really beautiful...Juxtaposition of the studded bridesmaids dresses and the icons of the church...radiant smiles...curious about the tradition (?) of bride and groom each holding one shoe of each person...?
Rosie and I had a quiet chat about weddings the other day...she has been in several and attended several more...has learned quite abit about 'what I don't want' and the 'wedding machine' that can grab you and cost a fortune, adding stress but not....meaning. I think she and Rich will have a wonderful beautiful wedding someday...possibly a very simple one. She has seen the difference between inviting 80 real friends and family vs 300 people which kind of turns it into an ordeal...

interesting to note some of the Chinese traditions we may be in for if his family asks for it...
