What changed is that I got a four year degree at UCSC for 7200.00 total, with only part time campus jobs, and SSI survivorship benefits of 56.00 per month. Colleges now cost that much for a semester if they are a CSU.UCs are double that. Brown is triple that.

True that. Some inflation. The rest -- states cutting subsidies and deconstructing achievements of the Greatest Generation. It is madness to do this to our children.

You are so right. I feel angry that it is being done to these kids. And I feel justified in just paying off the loans to get her out from under them as a logistical good, a financial burden lifted and a thumbed nose at the would be collector of the interest on the loan who now won't be getting it.

Thanks for weighing in on this. Both parties support these austerity things -- it is only a question of degree. Identical logic fails about deficits. It is not "a pox on both your houses" but I have to try to shame those Democrats I can into doing the right thing. Meaning mostly our state senators Patty Murray D-WA the chair of the Senate Budget Committee.
