He's lurked. He's looked around. And now, without moving his mouth, the tall scaly figure is conversing quietly with a disembodied by natural-sounding artificial voice, via a natural-sounding artificial voice of his own.
"And you are positive there is no one in visual or audible range from our own facet of reality?"
"Yes."
"Good. Thank you."
And then he draws himself up to ask his question, mouth still unmoving.
"If one is designed by nature to be incapable of having children, should there be any reason to think this -- coupled with pronounced physical, physiological, and psychological differences -- would adversely affect the development of those for whom one serves as a parent?"
A pause. "Essentially, do you think there is any possible worth to bans on inter-species adoption?"
