What does a broken toe/foot look like? Anyone have any experience with this? Would it be, say, bruisy and purple with a very bright, angry looking reddish-pink spot at the location of the impact? Would it feel ok most of the time but be incredibly tender and painful to the touch?

If yes, I think I broke my foot.

When I broke my foot it pretty much throbbed all the time, even when I wasn't touching it. But other than that, yes.

If you would like my stylish bloo bootie (tm) and crutches, I'll drop them off. The ER and the orthopedist didn't do anything else for me when I broke mine except tell me to wear my stylish bloo bootie (tm) and keep weight off of it.

How did this happen and which part of the foot is it?

It's the side of my foot, on the inside, beneath the big toe, like where the pad of my foot is. I, um, I got really really angry and I kicked a chair over whilst barefoot.

It's not throbbing but I'm aware of it. It feels like a sprain feels when you're not moving it in The Way That Hurts. And it's crazy tender to the touch. Shoes are unpleasant.

When it's on the ball of the foot like that it could just be a really, really nasty bruise, maybe something involving one of the tendons that run under there. Unfortunately, an x-ray is the only way to be sure.

I dislocated one of my toes stepping off the back of a moving truck on my move across the country. It hurt like a bitch suddenly and then when I managed to get it back into the joint, it felt better, but bruised like HELL. All black and purple...

You might have done what I did... only popped your toe right back into place at the same moment.

I'm thinking it's just a really nasty bruise, maybe a bone bruise. It's looking a little better each day.
