Weekend

I'm bored and avoidy so here's the weekend!

Friday night: avoided the gym, takeout fried chicken, met a friend in Williamsburg for drinks.
Saturday: woke up late, went to brunch at this place we love but whose coffee has this weird leg-shaky side effect (too much caffeine? I don't know) and shopped for our new obsession, Texas Hold 'Em. Did some work stuff at home.
Saturday night: met another couple to go bowling, which I haven't in forever. We were ready to wrap it up at about midnight, but they wanted karaoke (they used to live in Japan). We found a place near Astor Place with the private rooms and did karaoke...for four people...for two hours. And I know what people mean about this city being expensive: we must have spent over $200 dollars among the four of us just for bowling & karaoke. This was supposed to be trying to be cheap. Anyway, got home at 4 am, which is pretty late for us. So we slept in until noon, even though
Sunday: I had work to do. Skipped out on the planned World Cup watching in Brooklyn with Bob & others. Though I finished by early evening Bob ate dinner at an Italian street fair right near the Cup-watching, so I ordered some food in while we desultorily watched bad poker specials (there's always a game of poker on tv). By about 10 pm we both got restless-- he's moody about his dissertation, I hadn't been outside the house all day. So we ran out to a 10:30 showing of PotC. Bob liked it more than I did. We crack the same joke after every single movie screening-- "should we stay through the credits for the zombie pirate monkey scene?" This joke is particularly effective after, say, Munich. So I turned to Bob and said, "if there's going to be a zombie pirate monkey scene after the credits, it's going to be now" but you'll have to see the movie to find out whether there was one. Although I'm guessing everyone has.
