I think your on the right track I have one minor piece of constructive criticism and its more a style thing. I don't think the Bishop herself should send out the call she's a far to public figure after all if the people got wind of a taint within the church there might be issues. What might work is the use of an organization within the church that usually deals with this kind of thing. This organization given the severity and delicacy of the issue does some out sourcing to the group. Maybe makes it clear that the less the church itself seems involved the better.

Such organizations include the church inquisitors see page 26 of complete divine or the grey guard on page 41 of complete scoundrel. Tony should have both laying around somewheres. If you need any more help please feel free to contact me.

The plus side of D&D is that D&D is tailor made to fit with the Dragonlance setting. The source books tie them together. This means less work for you, the DM, and in my experience, that's a good thing as it lets you spend more time making the game work ( ... )

I dunno I disagree with you on some points ash. D&D can do cloak and dagger pretty well. THe system is ultimately irrelevant its the DM that matters, D&D us flexible enough to allow for that type of thing.

Hell I do you one better the modules are called Death in freeport, terror in freeport and madness in freeport. Google is win :)

My objection isn't that D&D doesn't -allow- for cloak and dagger. It has rules for move silently and hide and sneak attack and listen and gather information and soforth. My objection is that it is not the -focus- of D&D. Generally a game system has a single thing for which it is intended to do really well. In D&D, that thing is combat, and you can tell because most mechanics (over half) are based on combat type situations.

Sure, a sufficiently talented plumber can fix your pipes with duct tape and silly putty, but why would you want them to when there are better tools available?

The problem being that I myself have not tried any systems specifically dedicated to non-combat options, so I can't recommend something better.

ah! a wonderful adventure, looks like fun! :3
i might have to try this one out on my friends. i know many d&d fans aren't one for pre-designed adventures, but hell, i think it's a good idea until i'm used to the system as a DM and as a storyteller, and it makes me think about how to word my own adventures.

I speak from personal experience when I say for a first time DM the pre fab adventure is a good thing. It give you a bse line from there you can fiddle with it as you see fit.
