Title: Sinuses, or how The Sneeze of Doom Came to Be
Rating: PG
Pairing: Jun/Ohno (+ Sho)
Disclaimer: I guess Johnny’s technically owns Arashi, huh? Not me.
Summary: Before they retired from superheroing, Jun and Ohno were known as the Dazzling Duo.
Notes: Prequel to
The Fantastic Five, for my latest distraction, the
Timestamp fic meme!!
It was an unsaid rule that every super hero needed a partner, and Jun was Satoshi’s for no real reason other than that’s the way it was. They did complement each other, though, and Jun had a lot to learn which Ohno, being a veteran crime fighter, could teach him.
They went on patrols with each other and sometimes with Sho (who was still looking for his partner) every day to make sure that crime was being handled properly in the city, often followed up by drinking parties with other superheroes and subsequent miserable morning afters that they also dealt with together.
They were practically joined at the hip if not for their day jobs (Jun a super model and Ohno a content fisherman), and separate apartments (even though Ohno could be found sleeping on Jun’s couch just as often as his own bed).
It happened one day, after Ohno had talked a giant gorilla out of terrorizing the city and just as they had stopped to eat sandwiches (handmade by Jun) in their favorite park near a pond, where Ohno liked to watch the fishes.
“If it isn’t the Dazzling Duo!”
Both heads whipped behind them to see the owner of the bubbly voice, and Jun abandoned his lunch on the ground to rise and take a defensive stance against one of their well known enemies. (Satoshi did the same, only instead of wasting the food he shoved the whole thing in his mouth and proceeded to chew as he mimicked Jun and watched the other man intently.)
“Maru-Maru…” Jun finally spit out, clenching his fists. “What havoc have you come to wreak today?”
First he laughed loudly in return, throwing his head back, before revealing his intent by concisely sending a piece of paper toward the pair, which Jun caught as Ohno continued to chew slowly with furrowed brows next to him.
“Sho-kun! What have you done to him?!” Jun demanded, staring down at the flier, an image of their good friend laid out on a bed and looking quite sexy, his torso bare and jeans falling off his hips. His expression was so helpless!
“If you ever want to see your friend again…!” Maru started to demand with a wide grin, but before he could finish Jun was ignoring him, turning to Satoshi for instructions. It would be easy enough for him to convince the villain to give Sho back without any problems, if only he wasn’t still eating that sandwich!
“He’s in trouble!” Jun whined, waving the paper in front of Ohno’s face impatiently, and finally he swallowed with an innocent look at Jun before turning back to their enemy and preparing to open his mouth.
“Not so fast Oh-chan!” Maru cackled in return, then pulled something out of his pocket and brandished it with a wide swing of his arm. “I have a new secret weapon today to defeat you! HI-CHU!” came the yell without even a second break to cut in.
Jun blocked his face as a suddenly bright light over took them, but when he looked up again Maru-Maru was gone.
And a dark shadow was slowly creeping up the grass in front of them.
He turned around as fast as he could and witnessed a huge rainbow octopus climbing out of the water, each tentacle a different color and a mask that looked suspiciously like a sideways “8” covering its eyes.
Before either of them could react the monster was lashing out at them, and Ohno couldn’t even formulate an exclamation as he was captured, the limb wrapping all the way around him to lift him in the air, restraining him and covering his mouth quite accurately.
“No! Satoshi!” Jun screamed, making a fist in the air in front of him. Without his partner’s power of persuasion, this would be a lot harder! But he immediately had to dodge as another tentacle came at him, and he jumped in the air before kicking it once for good measure.
After backing up a few feet (as it seemed the thing was incapable of leaving the pond) Jun faced it with a frown and pointed his finger at it dramatically. “Give him back!!”
Actually, Jun was helpless without Satoshi altogether… but he had to try to save him!
Obviously the thing couldn’t speak back, although it understood his words well enough, and mounted another attack even as Ohno dangled helplessly in the air above it, his feet swaying slightly in the wind as he watched Jun with his usual dazed expression.
“Fine, you asked for it! Eyebrow Beam!” Jun yelled, placing his fingers on both temples in order to concentrate his energy before firing a stream of light at the monster.
But, although it flinched slightly, in the end it only seemed pleased that Jun wasn’t stronger, and this time two arms came at him together, and he barely missed getting caught himself.
He was really in trouble now, having used the only solo move that he had at his disposal. Most of their attacks were done in pairs (because Ohno insisted that the more they touched each other during battle the stronger they became) and it seemed as though their weakness had finally been exposed and shamelessly used against them. There was no way he could give up, though!
Before he could prepare another eyebrow attack, though, Satoshi was brandished in front of the octopus in an obvious warning to watch himself if he wanted to spare his partner.
And thus Jun could only stand there powerlessly with a frown that only deepened as he noticed a second arm joining the first, sliding up Ohno’s leg slowly over his tight costume.
“Stop that!” Jun was not only burning with irritation at not being able to defeating this thing, but jealously at his partner being touched so intimately when even Jun had not gone that far. “Let him go!”
But by then the monster’s purpose had been served and he grabbed Jun around the waist while he was distracted, and he too was pulled into the air, struggling against the tight grip and placed just barely outside of reach of Satoshi, who was looking much more worried about things than earlier. The second tentacle had moved all the way up to his thigh now, and Jun felt a disturbing touch on his own lower body.
“Satoshi-kun! Jun!”
His head twisted around at the familiar voice and was relieved to his Yatterman running towards them, if for no other reason that they wouldn’t have to save him later. He was really rather useless at fighting, but Jun was already useless at this point and needed all the help he could get. The explanation of his escape from Maru-Maru’s clutches could wait until later.
But it was no surprise that, in his rush to aid them, he tripped on the uneven gravel surrounding the pond and fell flat on his face just before being captured himself by another free octopus arm, turned upside down before being brought right up next to the monsters face, and Jun could only sigh and return his attention back to what he was actually really worried about.
From this proximity he could hear Ohno’s whining and whimpering behind the slimy gag on his mouth, but suddenly a ripping sound was heard and Jun struggled harder as he saw his partner’s costume slowly being torn apart from the bottom.
Damn this perverted monster and its wandering limbs! He had to save Satoshi!
It was that thought along with the teary look building up in his partner’s eye that really pushed him over the edge, creating a stir of emotions deep in the pit of his stomach and sending a surge of power throughout the rest of his body, all the way to his nose.
It progressed into that itchy feeling that made his eyes close automatically, and in no time at all Jun was throwing his head back, somehow knowing what was coming.
When he sneezed it was like the a tornado erupted from his nose, whipping his hair around his forehead and releasing him from the grip of those probing suctions cups, and the world completely blacked out for just a second.
Then Jun found himself drowning, water filling his lungs as he unsuccessfully tried to right himself, and he floundered without any idea of what was happening to him.
But then a hand was pulling him by the back of his costume jacket, and he finally broke through the surface of the lake, gasping for air as Sho struggled to keep him afloat, tugging him back into safer territory and into Ohno’s shaking arms.
“Satoshi!” he called out as he clung to him, finally able to take a breath of relief. They were alive! Although the octopus was nowhere to be seen, both of his friends appeared unharmed, albeit wet (and Satoshi with no pants).
The older superhero was hugging him tightly in return and gasping, “You’re okay!”
Jun had never seen Ohno this upset before, and he knew in that moment that Satoshi loved Jun just as much as he loved Satoshi.
“I’m okay,” Jun grinned, proud that he had managed to save his partner after all (somehow) and ecstatic at his newfound understanding of their relationship. To celebrate it all, he kissed Ohno right on the mouth and even though he tasted like octopus he didn’t complain or pull away, just held him tightly.
The sun began setting behind him (quite prematurely) as they exchanged love confessions with sparkling eyes, and they held hands, lost in their own world until Sho cleared his throat and congratulated them, looking quite pleased with himself.
“Sho-kun! How did you escape?” Jun asked excitedly, wondering if his bumbling friend had managed to do something amazing by himself for once.
“Escape?” he replied quizzically, and with that timing, the flier that Maru-Maru had threatened them with blew over to his leg, wrapping around it lovingly and asking for attention.
Sho reached down to pick it up, then blushed good naturedly.
“Oh! This is from a photoshoot I did for a magazine. It went on sale today,” he offered in embarrassment, and Jun’s jaw dropped in surprise.
There was an awkward silence before Ohno offered, “It’s very nice.”
Then Jun felt him shiver, and turned his stare on the pants-less Ohno instead, his irrepressible urge to worry taking over any incredulity of Sho.
“We need to find our disguises! I’m taking you home right now! And there will be a hot bath!”
Satoshi smiled his usual relaxed smile at the suggestion, then when Sho immediately rushed off to find something to help them, pulled Jun down for another kiss, sliding his hands down his sopping suit, which was plastered against the shape of his body.
“I think you need a hot bath too,” he grinned mischievously and Jun completely agreed.

A/N: Another short update! Please forgive me for my strange timing. :) I finally got a day off! I'll be updating the ninja story soon too, probably this weekend.
I'm really starting to like this universe... Maybe I'll write another story when I have time and energy. :)
