So nice to see you here! I've been remiss checking the other LJ, I hang out here mostly, now, though I do *try* to check flist weekly, and DW daily. Anyhoo.
Funny you should ponder orientation and sexuality. It's sort of revelatory, after decades of marriage, to discover I'm cis, biromantic, or panromantic, demisexual. I was too busy partnering, parenting, and making a living to ponder, earlier in life. I just accepted the status quo, though looking back, it was always an itchy bad fit. New discoveries explain a lot. The BB fic I bailed on this year, to work on for as long as it takes, deals with transgender issues, so there you go.
I'm SO looking forward to film and tv execs discovering that every powerfully close, emotional relationship doesn't have to be het, doesn't have to be paired, and certainly doesn't have to be romantic. Poly-plantonics, unite!
I'm bad about checking my flist, too. I keep a tab open all the time to my fic reading custom group and rarely switch it over to my purely friends group. :(
Sorry you had to bail on the BB! I like stories that explore transgender issues. Some of my favorite Sherlock fics have ftm Sherlock or John, where they are first genderswapped female and then ftm. It's interesting to see how it affects (or doesn't affect) their character. The pieces are always insightful and, I feel, presented with a lot of delicacy and respect.
Miss you and love you, too! ::runs off to set reminder to check flist more often::
