I don't like the traditional heart shaped box of candies and a dozen roses sort of Valentine's celebration. But we always have a fantastic home cooked meal and devote a little extra attention to each other. I think it's a nice opportunity to stop and appreciate the ones you love, be they friends, family, significant others, anyone. Too often life gets in the way and it's nice to have a holiday that reminds you to give a little extra appreciation the people in your life that matter.
Dear, that's like saying Christmas is a bad holiday because it's all about being greedy and getting lots of presents. There is a deeper meaning behind it that people tend to forget because Hallmark is so smarmy.

It's never been a holiday I've been fond of.
