Incidentally, just minutes after I made that poster, I went to dinner with my parents, my uncle, and these two men named Troy and Victor. My parents have known Victor (who is in his early 40s, I believe) since he was 16 years old. He and Troy have been together for ten years.
Since I was already all fired up about Prop. 8, I was just watching them and thinking like. WOW. These guys are such a better couple than sooooooooooooo many of the straight couples I know. They got married when Newsome legalized it back in the day, and the just still act really sweet to each other.
man that's awesome. i am COMPLETELY amazed by the ignorance of people. i just can't fathom people thinking that prop eight (gays just getting married in general) would harm anyone. i can't believe people still don't understand the concept of equal rights. people are letting religion/ignorance/prejudice affect others. sometimes i can't believe there aren't many humanitarians anymore. not only that, but haven't they learned from history? it's the exact same as the issue from the 1960's when interracial couples couldn't get married. i feel like i'm in some surreal dream and future generations are going to ask their parents "mom, you were alive when gay people couldn't married?" almost like how we ask older generations the same thing about racial issues.
