Seconding you on the Benny love. SO. DAMN. MUCH.

The atmosphere pretty much made this episode for me (and not just because it made Benny's accent about five hundred times sexier, nooooooo). I really miss that from the early seasons - the intense, aesthetically pleasing Americana of it all. I spent a good portion of my childhood driving across the country, so getting to feel that again through the show is Awesome.

I swear, my first thought, when Dean got cut? "This is going to be a hoodie-time icon."

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who was sort of confused about the quasi-cliffhanger - the whole episode had a kind of Return-of-the-King hundred-not!endings thing going. It felt done halfway through, and then it felt like it had reached a serious cliffhanger about ten minutes from the end, and then they wrapped that up and...yeah. Slightly confused about what direction the season is taking, at this point.

But Benny is awesome and sexy so I have no real complaints. :P

Yessss. I fucking *sobbed* when I thought Benny was about to be killed and I just---where did that come from?! (I just rewatched it so I am on feelings overload at this point sorry...)

^^^THIS. SO MUCH. It's possibly my favorite thing about the show, after the characters.

I also am really happy that they seem to be spending more time in the south lately. I'm (halfway---it's a torn between which of two places I could think of as home thing) from the south, and it's amazing how much less I hate it the older and more nostalgically inclined I get. :P But I think it's similar to what you said about driving across the country; there's something really great about the roots of a thing being a familiar to you... (is that what you said? Or am I totally reading into it?)

I'm so jealous of your childhood right now, by the way. ;)

I don't even know what to say about the cliffhanger. I'm so confused. I don't know what it says about me that I'm somewhat pissed off because I'm not dying ( ... )

I'm no expert on Tennessee. :P Gah, yeah, but I feel like that tone is in a way a "setting" of its own. Motel-land. Road-land. Places-are-indistinguishable-land. It's not one I really know, except for the car as an entire world... (I used to hide out in the car while my mom worked because she couldn't afford a baby-sitter. I think that's part of why I started writing, to be honest.) But. Yes. I MISS SEASON ONE TOOOO OMG. I just had a dream that I was trying to show some people the Pilot but the DVD wouldn't cooperate so they decided to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory instead... //random sidenote ( ... )
