So I haven't updated in way too long.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Moved to an apartment, traveled to Europe, interned at a company in a bona-fide urban city setting (Baltimore), joined a Fraternity
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year (or the rest of this year)?
No, unfortunately. I'm still the fat fuck that I was at the start of January. Hopefully I won't be by the end of December!
This year I do plan to make resolutions: they are
1. Network enough to land an internship on Wall Street for next summer (or at least an interview).
2. Maintain my performance in school (as pathetic as it sounds, I feel as though my academics are the one thing in my life I have control over and that I know I can do well in).
3. Lose 30 pounds so I can stop being so insecure about my weight once and for all.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully!
5. What countries did you visit?
Spain! Given that I had never been to Europe prior to January, this was an especially big deal.
6. What would you like to have that you lacked in 2008/2007?
Better organization and a more positive attitude about being social i.e. hanging out, going out, etc.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 1st, Art Attack featuring Ludacris! It was the single best concert I had ever been to (not to mention the highest selling Art Attack in UMD history, with 7,007 tickets sold), and to know that I am part of the small group that booked, planned, and promoted the event is incredible.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Studying abroad, maintaining my GPA, making some great new friends and keeping my old ones.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not exploring more fraternities before making a final decision on one, being very disorganized at the start of the semester such that I was incredibly stressed and burned out by the end of it.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just the typical cold, nothing new.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Plane tickets to Spain.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Damien, my SEE advisor, for always being so supportive and uplifting.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
One of my roommates during Spring semester. He has so much going for him but is never satisfied, always looking for the next best thing without any motivation to actually go through with any of it. The fact that he is extremely awkward and doesn't know how to carry himself does not help.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The food court at the Stamp Student Union, namely Chick Fil A, Sbarro, and Saladworks.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finding out about my 4.0 GPA after I was certain that it was not coming, being offered a position at Legg Mason even after summer had already started.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
Kevin Rudolf, Let it Rock, because this song really gets me pumped up, and during these past few months, I feel as though every aspect of my life (social, acjumped in terms of intensity and took massive steroids.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier! I think I'm actually starting to grow up as a person.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter, but not by much. In any case, I need to lose weight.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer, given how much money I wasted on food that didn't need to be eaten.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercise! It is completely underrated. Also, jobsearching, so that I didn't have to resort to the small amount of options I received at the very end.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Eaten out, hung out with boring people.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Probably at home doing the same family routine.
21. Did you fall in love in 2007/2008?
Negative.
22. How many one-night stands?
5, I think.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Entourage. Probably the best show on Television right now. It's "Sex and the City" for guys.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate is such a strong word. I would go more with "strongly dislike" or "disrespect more than I did before". And the answer is unquestionably yes.
25. What was the best book you read?
Other than textbooks, none.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Realizing the existence of OneRepublic.

28. What did you want and not get?
A finance internship this summer.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Slumdog Millionaire
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Given that my last birthday was in 2008, I'm going to ignore this question.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Proposition 8. Republicans are fucking idiots.
36. Who did you miss?
My friends from North Campus (I moved to South Campus mid-year), some high school friends who I didn't get to see, some SEEers who graduated this past Spring
37. Who was the best new person you met?
my entire pledge class, the rest of AKPsi, new SEE incomings, friends from my Spain trip
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Don't ask questions. Just do it. Don't look back. You'll regret it if you don't go for it now.
also
Realize that each friendship you have is a two way streak; it is not just your job to maintain these relationships, the other side needs to take initiative as well, or else he/she just isn't worth it.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Come on and do it
Don't care how you look, it's just how you feel
Come on and do it
You gotta make it real
Come on and do it
It's time to free what's in your soul
You gotta get it right, this time
Come on freak out lose control
That's my life thus far. Cheers to a good rest of the year!
