I can guarantee you'll lose weight doing it. I moved into a house last year, and just from moving boxes and stuff over (as things were arranged such that I had plenty of time to haul things over, so I was able to do so in bits and pieces) and I lost 10 pounds in a month without even trying or otherwise changing my myriad bad habits.
Congratulations on the new (to you) home. I commiserate with you about the exercise. Though I have never (yet) gotten to the weight you're coming down from, I know it's not easy even maintaining a particular weight at our age.
Congratulations on the house! ...and all the joy of the work that comes along with it. Think of the six months apartment/house overlap as a gift, in that you don't have to pack up your stuff AND clean out their stuff (I suspect you are right on the basement detritus) AND fix the wiring AND replumb the place AND remodel the kitchen (AND by the way, how does the insulation look?) ALL in one single month. (Yay?)
Somehow, it always seems to eventually turn out all right in the end.
For years I was a huge fan of Penn Jilette of Penn and Teller. Penn isn't nearly as huge as he used to be. Penn lost over 100 pounds in 3 or 4 months, his 2 co-podcasters lost another 100 between them. Penn had Ray Cronise as a diet guru (both of them are writing books), but they said for those who don't want to wait the basis of this diet is Joel Fuhrman's book Eat to Live
